replacing sewage pipe ruined yard - what seed to plant?
Comments (2)I'm in central NC as well, I just spread some Perennial Ryegrass seed a few days ago. It some germinated yesterday and I'm sure more some today. I have an in-ground irrigation system, so I'm worry about drought. If the area is not too big and don't have irrigation, get a timer and attach it to a garden hose so you can water the seed. Crabgrass is going to be a problem, so get a bottle of XLR8 online somewhere. Fescue seed is going to be your best option, even if some of it dies. You will still have the root system from the dead clumps that will stop the lawn from eroding too much....See MoreCutting down big trees
Comments (11)We had some large trees removed this year, in confined spaces on a city lot. The arborist cut off pieces and dropped them, so there has to be an area next to the tree to drop large chunks. He wouldn't give us a break on the value of the wood, and we couldn't find anyone to buy the wood, only people who wanted to haul it away for free for firewood.LOL You could shop around for a lower-cost arborist. There is a man in Portland who will assist people in reclaiming wood from trees (he dries, planks, and sells the wood), maybe there is someone like him in Seattle, but he doesn't pay much for the wood either. Once after a really bad wind storm we had numerous large trees fall, and ended up with a logging truck full, so we did get paid for the trees, but they were in logging truck lengths....See MoreConcrete Moisture Mystery
Comments (6)bizabet - I do not think the concrete has ever been sealed. jerry_t - DH is a civil/structural engineer and he used the term spalling also. I have this posted on the GW plumbing forum, but I'll also look into other forums as you suggest. floorguy - you bring up some good points and suggestions I hadn't thought about. Would we be able to notice a foul odor in the damp sand if it was from the sewer? DH did mention a sewage pipe test we can try. Lynn - Thanks. Your encouragement has been helpful to me over these many months of learning about flooring. I'm glad we're not under a tight time constraint to get done because this spot on the concrete was a surprise that is slowing us down. I will keep you posted!...See Morerubber tree
Comments (1)Congratulations on your very own garden, and please to research every plant before you start. There are thousands on plants around much better than that. Get Rid of it I say Around our area you are not permitted to grow those invasive plants....See Moredadereni
