Stroll the Block - 3 More Done - Pix

Woo Hoo I am on a roll and it feels good! 3 more done completely. All month cut and fused. September is almost done but my poor little fingers got sore and I had to take a break.

Instead of using muslin to back and have to store 11 blocks at a time, I'm going to sew the months together and have reversable blocks with only 5 to store. Going to add muslin sleeve at the top of each pair and use an old yard stick to hang.

It's almost spring here in Michigan and I really want to get these done before the weather breaks and everything inside gets put on hold while I play in the dirt. I do believe I'm going to accomplish that goal and boy does it feel good!

Too cute, glass. Spongebob gave me a chuckle. I love the pilings and the water in that one too. And the firecrackers/fireworks in July are really neat too. Really I like them all. The neat thing about these is seeing the different ways that people represent the different months. Could I participate and hand applique? I seem to do wonkiness naturally so that should not be a problem...ha ha. I might be up for this depending on when it starts... Thanks for suggesting a second round, Kelly - NH

I really like your color combination but I am most impressed with all that hand stitching you did. It really makes them special! I see why your fingers would be sore.

Your blocks are just great, I am sure your fingers are sore. You have some really good ideas and the colors are great, I also like the old yard stick idea to hang them on.
I hope you post pictures when you get them all finished.

Fran - I'm going to use them as monthly wallhanging on my cubicle at work - a way to bring a little cheer and personality to an otherwise boring work area. The ones not being displayed will fit in a small pizza block and it won't take up too much room.

I finished September on Sunday night, took the hoop off and realized I had stitched School upside down AND backwards...thought about leaving it but took it out and fixed it last night. Started on October but had trouble with some of the thread I was using - it was really old and kept breaking - so I tore out a good amount of stitching. Oh well.

MI - I got the patterns from HGTV. They still have them on the site if you want to download them - or if you want to send me your snail mail address I can send you the pieces already cut out - save you some time as I will not be using them in the future...

Thanks for all the compliments - I don't usually like to do applique but I'm having lots of fun with this project now that I've actually jumped in with both feet. Will post pix of the remaining blocks as I get them down along with the pix of the finished product. Going to get March/April complete before Monday so I can bring it in to the office.
