February UFO Completed - Pic

The Confession Time thread shamed me into working on one of my UFO's and I completed it today. My DD remarried in 2001 and they didn't want the conventional wedding (2nd marriage for both of them) so I slappliqued a variety of WOW hearts on WOC blocks, backed with freezer paper, tested some gel pens and that's what was used instead of a guestbook. Looking at it 7 years later, I'm cracking up at some of the things the kids wrote. I wish more of them would have 'signed' in!

Good for you, Sharon :) The quilt is a great guestbook alternative, and looks very nice.

We are currently having quite the storm, complete with frantic dog. Not that I am complaining, mind you...not at all with our water problems! That Tigereye Spider is quite eye catching...I agree! I have a big clump of Kindly Light and have not noticed weak scapes. I'll pay it more attention when it blooms here. Ruby Spider and Spiderman are also large clumps here and neither has ever given me a moment's trouble! Primal Scream hasn't increased too much for me, but I've enjoyed it for the past two summers. You know, I was thinking that I have a couple that were new last year and I thought they had leaning scapes. I'm glad you reminded me. It will be interesting to see if they do again this year. Gotta give them another chance! Thanks for a very nice show!

Thank you ladies so much! You all inspire me so much to get things done! We buy almost all of our quilts as kits as the cutting has become harder on the wrists over the years we don't do too much of it but we LOVE the sewing part! Still learning lots so mistakes happen but they ususally "quilt out". We've been really pleased with the kits we've purchased and the instructions. We try to label the pics with the names of the kits so we can go back and buy fabrics for borders etc. when needed. We usually print them out and keep them on our instruction ring with our laminated instruction cards so it's really easy to grab the whole ring and go to the fabric shop for backings and borders if we need to :) Thank you all again, I SO enjoy seeing all of your pics too!

Yay, Linda! I don't remember if I commented when you posted the pic of the top, but this is really a great quilt. My grandmother had a cellar under the house, completely unfinished, just dirt and rock, with shelves of "put-up" fruit and veggies. The grass is always greener. I hope to machine quilt someday, lol. Beautiful work, Carole. I did get my quilting all done. The quilt is upstairs now, back home in the sewing room, a pound heavier from cat fur. What is it about cats and quilts? I shall need to launder it now for sure as my son has allergie s to cats. The iron is plugged in now and heating and I have the material ripped for the bias binding I'll be putting on today. I missed the deadline by a day or two to get it completely done, but not by much. I am still giving myself a silver star, maybe not gold, but wow........it was close. Thanks again for the motivation. I'll post a pic when I get it drying on the line.

Congratulations!! Now that you know the marriage was success you can give them the quilt, great idea.LOL Now you are on a roll you can finish another UFO. Nice job. You are an inspiration, maybe others will follow. Maybe even I will tackle one. Jayne

Thanks, everyone. The guests were supposed to sign in individually, but you know how plans go at a wedding.

I'm really glad to have this completed and yes, there is a 'feel-good' sense of accomplishment. Someone mentioned having a goal of completing one UFO a month. I may not be able to do that, but I plan to try...or at least get it to a point where I'm more comfortable and don't feel as guilty. @:)

It looks so nice. Like Rosa said it looks lacy. Perfect for a wedding quilt. Congrats on getting it finished!

I gave the 'kids' the quilt and I think I'll tell them to write things they remember about that day in some of the blank hearts. Might be a way to jog a memory or two when they're my age. @:) I sure am glad to have that quilt out of my house! On to the next UFO!

I have a little bit of the WOC fabric left.....I really like it, too, so will have to use it for something special.
