Christmas project finally finished (pic)

I've been working on this rather simple table runner for mom since before Christmas. It's not really difficult, but my mind hit a roadblock, and then gall bladder surgery, then holiday shopping & holiday....all contributed to it not getting done.

I finally got it done and gave it to her this weekend. Here it is on her buffet in their new house/dining room. If I feel inclined, I have fabric cut for another one which could work on their table, or maybe my table ;)

OMG! I love, love, love your kitchen! It's incredibly beautiful. Just perfect! I especially love your windows and your window sills. I'm getting my granite installed Thursday and then we move on to picking out a backsplash. I have about the same distance between the bottom of my 4 foot windows and my countertop and I haven't trimmed out the windowsills yet. I wanted granite sills, but realized that I don't have room for 3mm granite on the sills (2mm at most). I've been planning to work it into the backsplash and yours is JUST PERFECT! I've already saved your pictures. I hope you don't mind. Can you please post closer shots of your window sill area and please post details about the tile and the type of trim pieces that you used for the sill?

This quilt is about 32" wide and 36" long. It's embroidery, using 12wt sulky thread on a spool instead of embroidery floss. Much easier to work with and leaves a nice, clear line. It didn't free up nearly enough pins so will scramble around today and see what else I have. I suppose I could buy more but I'm thrifty.

Very nice. I am very fond of the log cabin pattern as well and you interpreted it so nicely. Your choice of iris fabric was perfect and cabins colors works so well together. Your SIL is very lucky even if her birthday is just before Christmas.LOL> I agree that is is difficult to have quilting turn out that well with a pieced backing but yours works wonderfully. TFS. Hi again, Thanks so much for the measurements! I think we can work something like that in our smaller bedroom and still have enough floor for his bed.... I will have to measure tomorrow when I don't risk making noise near the bedrooms (our sons sleep with their door open). He still wants to sleep with his brother, but they have made a few comments about having their own rooms soon. We can relocate the computer and set up the room as originally intended for him. It looks beautiful, Jennifer. I wish it were larger, so I could see the construction better, but I know it's hard to take photos of something that long. Nice colors, and good job for finishing it. Sometimes it's awfully hard to restart a project. I bet your mom loves it.

Actually, it looks simply elegant!
Great choice of colors...they would go with any decor, I'm sure. And good for you for finishing it, rather than letting it sit on some shelf until next Christmas!
