ohmygosh, that is a fabulous bed for a young boy's room! I can see it with plaids and ticking bedding, that kind of thing.

I like it a lot, and you are right--I don't think he will notice, and when he is older and might notice he will be used to it--and may really like the idea of sleeping in an "adult bed". My only concern would be if he banged it up--you might not care so much if it is something you aren't attached to.

It's a beautiful bed-- for anyone! It does have nice square masculine lines so I think it would look especially nice in a boy's room.

I think it will look horrible so you should send it to me instead.

I don't mind if it get bang up. It's not perfect as is, & not an precious antique -- probably just old. (though it was sold as "antique" I don't think it is).

It's a wonderful piece for any room, and just fine for a boy. He's lucky to have such a beautiful bed. It's not old-fashioned, it's classic.

yea! I'm so glad I asked here. It has really pretty Greek key pattern inlaid (which I'm sucker for) and the side rails are attached to headboard/footboard by a turning bolt instead of the hook-on hardware. Here's a close up of the details

I have some David Hick fabric (Fiorentina pattern in chocolate print on deep blue back ground) which I am thinking of using for throw pillows. Don't know if that is too much.

I like it. I see a nautical sort of new England look. I sort of get a design going and them let them put all of their business in the room anyhow. ;) It's a lost cause! LOL! I have a near 11 year old. My dreams of the perfect Pottery Barn room are murdered with the likes of all her favorite things everywhere. Which is just fine by me. There are no boys anywhere yet. ;) She still likes all the girly stuff. So she has pics of Taylor Swift and Demi Levato...Selena and the such all over her mirror and such. hehe.

Waaaaaaaay cool for a boy. If you don't want it I will take it off your hands. Even with the Pokemon blanket you can add other colors to really pull it off. I can see that bed being used for many years and themes.

DS sleeps in an antique bed. It was the daughter of our original owners bed but it's lines are plenty masculine (some of our others are a bit more feminine). When he gets older we'll let him have the choice of beds in the house, but they're all antiques :) I think it's great your son will learn to grow up with things older than pottery barn produces :) And it's gorgeous as well!!!

Tell your older son it's very Gotham City.

Great lines, would easily update with geometric bedding as the kid gets older.
