Trying to evaluate my Jandy Pump performance
Comments (4)Total watt consumption is not the formula of volts x amps = watts. It's a good estimate but not true. Motors have a power factor that needs to be considered. Most are .85-.95. your formula is then multiplied by that factor and then that is not even accurate without a clamp on watt meter. The uprate is a scam to confuse you. Motors are "uprated" or "full rated". What you are interested in is the TBHP or total brake horsepower. That number is nameplate HP x the nameplate service factor or SF. A 1.5 JHPU is a 1.0 JHP. A 2.0 JHPU is a 1.5 JHP and so on. Uprates have a low service factor so a 1.5HP uprate with a SF 1.3 = 1.95HP. Full rates have a high service factor so a 1.0HP full rate with a SF of 1.4 is a 1.4HP. Pretty much the same and the same cost. That is why you see them together on flow charts. The 9amp full load draw is on start and I can guarantee you they all pull about twice that for a second or two before settling in to the other amp rating which is running amps. The 1.5JHP is rated 18.4 on start and 9.2 on run. The 2.0 JHPU is rated the same. On your math, it needs corrected. 19kw at .10 per is 2.05/day or about $60/month as you say later....See Morequestion on jandy pda p4 and led lighting
Comments (1)If I remember, the Nexxus system needs power cycles to change colors/shows. I don't know if there is native support like for a Jandy branded light. I would ask the PB to call Jandy and verify the procedure and explain it to you. Scott...See MoreAqua Pure problems
Comments (5)I have the Aqua Pure 1400 on my pool and have been seeing the General Fault error for a while. I finally looked at the AquaPure controller by the pool equipment and found that I had multiple error codes being generated (180 172 121) which I was able to decode by downloading the service manual using a link providing by another helpful Gardenweb user. I learned that my flow sensor was faulty ($150). Once replace it resolved the 172 error code. When I inspected the Aquapure 1400 cell I found that the center pin on the electrical connector showed signs of severe overheating, and the connector had actually partially melted. Apparently I am not the only one who has seen this issue. I am now debating whether I want to put more money into the Jandy products, or just switch to something else. I suggest downloading the manual and decoding the error codes that are putting the 'General Fault' message on your Jandy OneTouch display. Comments (2)I will give you my take. I also plan on integrating in controls for my lights, music and possibly a light show with light o rama controlling my backyard flowerbed lights, yes I am one of those over the top synchronized music and lights Christmas display guys, so I totally follow your line of thinking, it makes my OCD's kick in just thinking about how much I have been contemplating about this stuff! I finally chose almost all Jandy for my pool equipment (with the exception of my beast raypak heater and color logic lights). I am running the largest aqualink RS as it seemed to have all the expandability and functions I wanted. I am also running the aquapure 1400 swg. The only part of my pool that is different is that I chose the color logic 4.0 LED lights for pool and spa. The great thing is the new aqualink systems support Jandy lights, SAM, and best of all for me, color logic 3.0 and higher. It actually has the menu choices in the PDA (pool digital assistant I think, I call it the big blue remote.) controller that correspond to the correct light shows built in to the color logic lights, so it can control them as intended by color logic, just pick the color or show and hit go! With some other controllers the only way to cycle through the shows is to power cycle the light over and over manually. The aqualink PDA also has support for multispeed pumps, you can even set a percentage of power to be used in the PDA itself. The aqualink also has extra aux slots that can be user assigned for the extra things we want to do. I really like that every facet of my pool can be controlled/monitored from the PDA or the control panel of the aqualink. Sorry if long winded, I only really looked at the Jandy equipment as I have a friend in the business who really convinced me the stuff is really good, especially since they have upgraded the speed of the PDA....See Morecagkaec_yahoo_com
