I hate shopping with a passion, and particularly hate buying jeans and pants. I did find that the Walmart Penmans Rider jeans fit. The stretchy jeans are the most comfortable, but not sure they really look the greatest.

I tried the ones that go below the waist but when I bent my knees to sit down, they went down my butt. How the heck do the young girls think that is comfortable? I was always yanking them up.

Me too! The lowriders may look ok while you're standing, but don't sit or bend down in them!
I have trouble with pants having no waist line. They seem to be made with no shaping for a waist, just straight down from the waist to the leg. Years ago I got some "Lee" jeans that have a small elastic band (about 3 inches) on each side of the waistband. They fit almost perfectly. All others have a huge gap.

I don't like shopping for clothes. I lost some weight when I put my husband in a care home and bought new clothes. I found that you can take 3 pairs of size 14 to the dressing room and they all fit differently. I can put up with a little low at the waist, had to buy some low cut panties to wear with them or wear a camisole. I don't like the spotty jeans, but love the buff colored ones. I found that St John's Bay fits the best.

Forgot to add, I have trouble finding dressy slacks to wear to formal dinners. I hate those wide waisted slacks. They don't do anything for the figure.

Stargazzer, I'm a big fan of St. John's Bay jeans too. The classic fit. I get them at Penney's.

CJ Banks have the best jeans for me. Some have a band of elastic at the waist.

I don't like the low rise jeans. I'm not built for them anyway. The other problem I have is that, although I'm only 5'6", most of my height is in my legs. So I'm too short for "tall" pants, and regular ones are barely the right length. Usually after a couple of washings they are too short, even though I have all my pants to dry for this reason. It's such a pain.

Ditto to all the above. My most recent pants disappointment involved all those new "slimming" jeans that are being advertised. I think the ads should say, "Guaranteed to make you look (and feel) like a sausage."

I bought a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt stretch khakis last summer that I loved, and although the store (TJ Maxx) didn't have any more, I was fortunate to find an eBay seller with a never-ending supply. So now I have them in tan, black, olive, and grey.

Right now I'm looking for an eBay seller who might have my favorite Lee Rider jeans. Nothing special about them, other than the fact that they fit me.

Old Navy has the high rise jeans in the boot cut, these fit my body style well.. so I've been buying those. They're the stretch jean too which I used to hate, but with gaining and then losing weight like I have lately.. the stretch jeans work really well. They also come in long (34" inseam) which I order. They also have Tall (36" inseam) for the really tall ladies.

I like the Chic jeans, relaxed, but they are getting hard to find. They have a waist and sit where they are supposed to. Kmart used to carry them, but now they just have the elastic waist version. Which is not as good of a fit as the blue jeans are. I did stock up on them while they did have them as we had a five or six year run where I could not find any. And I hated shopping for jean, as try on as I might, they would not hit my waist.

I wear a belt with my jeans or I always seem to be pulling them in place. I used to be between tall and average, but if I buy good brands average fits just fine. I love the stretch fabric, I can wear tight jeans all day without a problem. Before spandex they "cut" into me at the waist when I sat for a long time.

I've always had a terrible time with pants, whether they're jeans or slacks for work. The closest slacks I've found are Brooks Brothers, but I wait for a sale and other deals before I buy them. I've found some Lee jeans that come close to a good fit, but none of them are ideal.

Men have a much easier time of it.

I do have trouble buying pants but it is not the fault of the pants. I have too much "junk in the trunk" to get into them! LOL!

The one place that I could get properly fitted jeans has gone out of business. There is a new store for plus-sized women opening soon so fingers are crossed.

Wish we had a CJ Banks - sigh!!

Boy, do I!!! I have been complaining about not having any pants that fit for MONTHS!

Much to others' chagrin, I have an opposite problem from some as I cannot find any that are small enough. I am short waisted, so even low rise pants are still too high on my waist. And since I'm short, they are either too long or too baggy. If I try petites, they are way too short and therefore, I have to hem most of my pants to be just the right length.

I don't want to shop in the juniors section, but that's where most of my sizes are.

And, why it is -- that when you do find a pair
that fits well and you feel good in them - you can
never find them again?

Barbara 3, do a search for CJ Banks. They do have stores in Canada. In the larger cities. I don't know what city your in, or close to.

I like the low rise (except for the bending down problem).

You may be able to find some of the older classic style types you like on ebay. Look for the larger rise measurements and if you don't like the stretch style, be sure they are made of 100% cotton.

I have to have a short. Which are already on the verge of being too short.

I do better buying men's so I can get the waist and length I need. I've gotten Dockers and Eddie Bauer jeans recently.

I can't find pants that fit. I'm short and very "curvy"-small waist, big rear end. The only pants I currently have that fit are velour pull-on pants, with elastic waists. I would love to find a nice pair of jeans that fits both my waist and hips.

I can't find pants that fit, either. I'm tall (5'9") and have no hips and a thick waist. Men's pants fit better than women's. Glad I'm not the only one who can NOT find pants that fit.

Now that I'm 50, I'm ready to buy some pants with non-zippered waists. Is there such a thing that still looks attractive and stylish?

It took me 55 years to realize that the reason it's so easy for me to 'touch my toes'...is because I have short legs! I'm 5'6", but it's mostly in my torso. Now I buy Petite pants and don't have to have them tailored.

I hate the low-rise pants, too! Fortunately my ONE PAIR of Calvins is still wearable, after *only* nine years.

I really hate the low rise jeans, they even come in women's sizes and I really don't understand that. I also hate the stretchy, spandex in the jeans that stretch after wearing them for two hours and they fall down. I don't buy them anymore but still wear the ones I have because right now I can only fit into two pair of jeans and one has spandex in it.

I'm only 5' and have a terrible time even when I get petite and always have to hem.....

I hate clothes shopping nothing fits!!! its too small here and too big there. Hate the low rise, mid rise......I want the old styles we used to have. I have to try on everything or buy bigger and take it in. But sometimes that doesn't work either.

LOL, Kathsgrdn.......I'm wearing a pair of lightweight denim stretch jeans to work today--and putting a big safety pin in the pocket for later when the waist gets too loose.

don't mind wal mart but the only pair of heavy-weight jeans i have are worn out (venzia brand lane bryant), and only fit the first few hours of wearing (stretch) then i'm pulling them up...all the others i've bought are light weight...

my dress pants are all elastic waist...one in black velvet for the winter and one more tailored grey...i'm lucky i don't go very many places to get "dressed"...

I love NYDJ (Not Your Daughter's Jeans). Wish I could afford about five more pair of them.

I don't think it is the spandex that causes the elastic waist pants to stretch our of shape. I bought them before spandex and they still stretched to much. I bought a pair of elastic waist jeans at Walmart a couple of months ago because I couldn't zip up my reg jeans. They fit when I put them on, but later you could get two of me in them. My reg jeans with spandex do not stretch like the elastic ones do.

I am another one who likes St.Johns Bay jeans. I used to wear Levi's but can't seem to find the style I wore. I hate it when they do that ! I like straight leg jeans. No wide,baggy legs for me.

I like jeans with the Blakely fit from Eddie Bauer - they're one size bigger in the hips than in the waist, which is perfect for pear-shaped women. No gap at the waist.
