Well I for one think it is awesome. I think it really goes well with your other selections...........as for over the mirror lighting I have no clue.
While it's true that lighting over the mirror would be needed for some tasks, if you are not going to use the room to put on makeup or whatever -- if its truly just a powder room more for guests well then I would take the liberty and say that the ceilng light alone is fine. Why complicate it? (are you going to be doing makeup or reading books in there?:)

Thanks everyone! I do love the light, it doesn't hurt to try it, right? Sheila, it is just a powder room on our first floor, not a lot of other tasks going on besides the obvious one, lol.

Is it just me or does everyone look better in dimmer light?

I think it looks perfect for there--unique and just the right amount of bling--and with it being a powder room, I wouldn't add any other lighting unless it's a lot bigger room than it appears.

I think this could be lovely above the mirror. It has the oxidized silver finish that would be very pretty with your vanity and paper. I like how the design seems to compliment the pattern in your paper. It will give you some light directly over the mirror, which is always nice for people using it.

Another quick question - the vanity is 26" wide, I'm thinking about a simple beveled oval mirror . How big of a mirror should I look for with a 26" wide vanity?

I'd love to hear any opinions on faucets. the vanity should be in next week, need to order the new toilet but was waiting to see the color of the sink. Going a little over budget but I'm so excited!

texanniew - the name of the book from my recollection is damask collection. I can't remember the manufacturer. I am picking up the book again when the vanity arrives just to double check it looks good, I'll report back for you.

Just saw this but wow, that light looks like you commissioned it especially to match the rest of the room! The curves, the colors...you knew it would go, didn't you, deep down?

Sometimes we find something we feel is 'right' but don't know why, explicitly, yet. I've had that happen and sometimes I let my slow brain overrule my quicker instincts, and lived to regret not picking up the thing in question. Great that you went ahead and bought it (with the practicality of free returns easing the way : )), because your instincts were dead on.

That's great that it comes in a finish to match your vanity and wallpaper. If the size works and you keep it, I suggest you order a few replacement crystals while they still make the light in case to need to replace one down the road. Sometimes I have slippery fingers when I try to clean things and it's such a nuisance to hunt up a replacement.

Where oh where did you find such a perfect fixture?

Maybe you said it previously-- but can you give details on the vanity and the light? We may want to copy you:)

chickadee - that's actually the only finish it comes in, in their description it's burnished silver but the photo looked like a much more bright finish than it truly is. GREAT idea about getting extra crystals! I never would have thought of that. I was actually talking with my husband this morning on how difficult this light will be too clean!!

Jeannie and Sheila - the light is from Murray Feiss's Lucia collection. I purchased it from 1stoplighting.com. They offered free returns (huge + for me) and 150% price match guarantee. I ended up saving a little over a $100 through them.

The vanity is made by ambella and is the monique sink chest. you can find it on a bunch of different online sites. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll be sure to post more pics as things get installed!

I really like it! That's the Feiss Lucia light isn't it? I've always really liked that line ever since a blogger I follow used one of the pendants in her closet. I couldn't find a spot in our new home for one of the fixtures but the line is fantastic. Enjoy your bling!
