My fave part of the wedding

I just finished watching a re-run of this mornings wedding. Too early for me when it happened in real time.

I loved when Wills & Harry are facing the front and Kate and her Dad were walking down the isle. Harry, being the cheeky devil he is, turned and sneaked a peek, turn back and said something to Wills. I can't read lips but i imagined him saying....Bro, your one lucky dog!! LOL

All in all, it was a beautiful wedding.

Both of those things were really sweet. I got a little teary when William and Harry first walked into the church together. The brothers have been through a lot. The commentary I heard (the Today Show online) said Harry had kept Diana's engagement ring, and William her Cartier watch. Then when William was about to propose, he asked his brother if he could have the ring. Of course Harry said yes.

Did William make a speech during the wedding? I thought that was supposed to happen, but I haven't heard any of it.

I like when they were in the carriage and Kate turned to Will and said "happy".

Here's some more info on this grape. I had it regularly at Pike Place Market in Seattle, and fell in love with it. It was bred by the Volcani Ag Research Org in Israel, and released as Volcani 108. It is available in Australia: http://esvc000718.wic056u.server-web.com/table_grape.htm The grape seems like a winner, with good color, flavor, and texture, but the name 'Mystery' is failing to take hold of the imagination. http://linkstofood.com/blog/articles/52/seedless-muscat-grapes I wrote Dr. Avi Perl at Volcani ARO, and he says that to his knowledge, 108 has not been released in America. Apparently it would take 3-4 years and $3000-$4000 to do a virus quarantine on it. That would be the "right" way to do it. (I wouldn't know anything about smuggling cuttings in from Oz or Chile.) I have asked a local foundation with Israel/American agricultural exchange interests if they could help with the imporatation process, as this grape might be a winner for CA as well. Jeanne: Progress on cleaning up the remains and establishing his new place has been slow considering the limited amount of time he's had to work on it (he works nights and we live an hour from his location) plus the unending days of rain we keep getting coupled with his having to handle his Fathers rapidly declining health and helping his Mom (she doesn't drive due to seizures) but he will get there someday. In the meantime, he's not hurting anything right here with us so he's still parked. I've collected almost a whole new house of furniture and household stuff that's packed into our garage for when he's ready to leave so that will take a big load off of him when the time comes. My buddy is healing nicely but still restricted on driving ect until we go back to the Dr next Tues for a post-op checkup. He went in for a new internal heart defibrilator so it's something he has to be very careful to follow directions on. Candy: He doesn't miss a beat telling me how much he appreciates me & I'm really very spoiled. Certainly a very special man. :)

I'd like to see you relax more, creating something meaningful from your heart, as you are doing, but not so worried about how it might come across to some of the attendees. Telling a joke, soft guitar playing while you recite the lyrics from a song dear to your heart, both sound like good ideas and will be enjoyed by most if not all. I've enjoyed live guitar during services or occasions a number of times and enjoyed it immensely. I didn't find it at all distracting. Long as it's soft and complementary in the background. Just be yourself. And if you get a little long-winded, well, so be it. People are there to share in your family's joy and happy occasion. It's a big, emotional day. Enjoy and share it in your own individual way. Those types of things will make both the celebration and your speech memorable and even more special. Please, just enjoy yourself and this wonderful day with your daughter, family and friends!

There is a third possibility. You don't have to make, let alone "announce," any major or permanent "policy change." I think part of what's giving you trouble here is that you are sort of thinking you need to have a policy at all. Maybe you don't. Does hearing the news about the baby, if not the engagement, make your heart glow a bit? It sounds like it: you wrote, "I think that having a baby is such a happy thing." Then maybe you want to express your warm feelings with a call, a note, a little gift. When the baby comes, do what the spirit moves you then, too (sounds like that baby is going to NEED a great aunt and uncle). Even the marriage -- see how you feel when the time comes. Does this make any sense? Instead of deciding something like, "we'll send cards but not call," just call or not call and write or not write as you wish as time passes. It seems to me that setting something in stone, as it were, is just making it harder for you (and they probably aren't even aware of it). I understand why you and your fiance want to get your feelings about what happened at your wedding off your chest. I have to tell you, though, that in my experience, these conversations rarely pay off, and certainly not with people like these two. I am afraid the result will not be at all what you hope or expect -- in fact, it may be just exactly the opposite. These people do NOT sound like there is the remotest chance of their getting it when you try to explain how you felt and feel. And that will just leave you more frustrated and upset than before. Ask yourself: can you really picture them hearing you out, really listening, and then saying something like, "Oh, you know, we really have been so ashamed about what we did that day -- I feel so bad that it hurt you -- won't you please forgive us?" Much more likely that they will get very defensive and even go so far as to start a nasty argument that starts something like this: "Oh, sorry, Mr. and Mrs. Perfect, I guess we didn't live up to your stuck-up little tea party expectations. And by the way, YOU didn't consider OUR feelings when you ..." [insert something totally made up]. Time will never make what they (especially he) did right, but it will make the experience less sharp and less huge for you two. And I don't think you need to worry that your silence on the subject will be taken to mean that you condone their behavior or that you are inviting it to happen again. It just means you are being the bigger people. I wish you good luck. You and your husband are approaching this with a lot of thought and maturity. Sounds like the rest of the family could use a bit of that! :-)

I watched both ABC (this morning) and NBC (this evening.) I thought NBC's coverage was much better. The chit chat on ABC drove me crazy and I fast forwarded it a lot, but the thing I liked best on NBC was the fact that they had mics on so you could hear the crowds cheering and the bells ringing and got a real feel of the excitement. I kept watching the bells on ABC, but didn't hear a thing. I loved it when William turned to Kate and said you look beautiful. Also loved after they kissed on the balcony, William kind of bobbed up and looked a little sheepish. All in all, it was a great wedding.

William looked like he was blushing a couple of times.

My favorite was William with Harry. I loved how Harry stood at the alter with William and was looking out for him. Harry also looked like he was having a bit of fun. It was sweet to see William and Harry together. I actually would have liked to see Prince Charles more involved in a loving role in the wedding with his sons.

Favorite - When William and Harry entered the church together, tall, in uniform, clearly so close, and I thought of how Diana would have wept with joy as she saw how her sons had become men. This was her gift to England.

Absolutely the relationship between the brothers was a favorite. I got such a kick out of little brother taking a peak. I loved how sweet William is to her. His love is obvious. I also loved when they first emerged on the balcony and Kate said "Wow".

It was a beautiful day!

All in all it was a simple, church wedding. I liked that there weren't scads of "brides maids". I liked that the emphasis was on the ceremony. I like that the bride respected the sacred space in her choice of dress. Compare this to the display of extravagance one sees on those wedding contest shows. They put all the American/Hollywood wanna be's to shame. Maybe now couples will realize the one who spends the most money, doesn't WIN!!

Sable, what you said was so true-"this was her gift to England". What a beautiful sentiment. It is so sad to think of poor Diana's life and what could have been, but she certainly was a great Mum who loved her boys and raised them well. She would have been so proud.

I heard an interview with her last night in some of the coverage I watched that made me so sad. She said that as she was walking down the aisle she was scanning the congregation for Camilla Parker Bowles! How tragic, it was almost like that poor girl was a sacrificial lamb. I hadn't realized she knew all along she was a wife in name only.

I enjoyed the public turnout for the event and the efforts the wedding party made to engage the people. When crowds watching on monitors heard the groom promise, "I will," a thunderous cheer went up; it was said to be heard within the abbey.

That makes me think of all the history behind England and its monarchs. There can be no King or Queen without the People of England. I loved seeing the happy and orderly crowds of people actually *singing* "Jerusalem" as the bands played. (Yes, I *know* long holidays were given so that people could attend.)

Sleeperblues, I didn't realize either that Diana knew that early. How sad. She was only 19....she must have thought things would change for the better.

I read part of this article from the London Daily Mail about whether or not Charles would make Camilla Queen should he be crowned King. I thought the results of the polls were interesting.

I loved all of the music played at Westminster. Also found it odd Prince Charles wasn't much seen.

My favorite part was when Wills and Kate drove around in the Aston Martin, decorated with a few bows and balloons and the license plate that said "JU5T WED". Ahhhh now that's what I find romantic!

My favorite part was the whole thing. Diana would have been so proud of her boys. They turned out so well thanks to her. She had only been with Charles 12 times when they married and she knew about Camilla and she was there front and center. I still don't like her.
