It snowed pollen here last night (pics)

In 26 years of living here...I've never seen it this bad...last Friday the pollen count was something like 100...yesterday it was over 3000...needless to say this stuff goes everywhere!! I'm praying for a good hard rain tomorrow!

I feel bad cause I had the truck in the garage yesterday detailing the inside so hubster pulled his car outside...hey...maybe if I wash it...that'll bring a nice rain to wash this stuff away!

And I thought my place looked bad! Actually, my deck, porch and car look just about as bad as yours. It's awful.

My daughter was home this past weekend for Easter and Sunday morning she asked why her car was cover in yellow dust!

is that fencing all for that forsythia??? .. wow .... what is your goal with this plant ... a house sized shrub .. that heaps upon itself endlessly .... or a small arching delight.. like you previously had??? if the latter .. then you need to study/google: REJUVENATION PRUNING of flowering shrubs.. or forsythia specifically .... its system wherein.. every year.. you remove 1/3 of the plant... renewing it forever ... if its the former.. you leave it be ... on some level ... w/o a goal... you are forcing your aesthetic on its natural ability to shape itself ... clarify your goal ... and you ought to see the light.. of what you need to do ... as an aside.. do you fert this thing.. thats a lot of growth .. in one season ... considering that in your zone.. its frozen solid half the year ..... if it were me.. i would leave it be thru flowering ... perhaps even harvesting some dormant boughs in january.. and forcing them to bloom indoors ... in a vase ... and if you want more.. rooting them ... and then after outdoor flowering.. start the rejuvenation system... or not. depending on your goal ... google images.. or some such.. ought to give you a couple million pix of what can be done with this plant ... ken

Thanks Deb. I got the plumie last winter when my friend couldn't fit all hers in the house, lol. It was blooming but we knocked off most of the flowers moving it. We have a red one that is multi branched that we couldn't move and a large yellow one. The others are small. If you plant is has been rooted for a while there is a good chance you will get blooms next year. They like a lot of fertilizer like the brugs. I can't wait to see all those open on the older one and got a surprise flower on another one this morning. I thought it was the orange pot I was seeing through the greenery and I went Humm, whats that red thing, lol. It was a beautiful bloom hiding in there, lol. The variegated hibiscus is pretty but there are such long stems on the flowers they all hang down. You can click on the pics to enlarge them if you can't see them well.

Temps here today were 70's. We only had one single frost day last week so far. I found the odd tomato plant all withered up, and left it for the animals. I just put out all my wild bird feeders today. Some birds have been anxious to get to them, as it took only 5 minutes for a bunch to get seeds. They were all taken down back in the middle of May. 50 pound bag of black oil sunflower seeds, $23!! OUCH!

We were coated in yellow for WEEKS! Last week the pollen count hit about 8000 pp cm, the highest ever recorded in Houston. It's a bit better this week (more Oak pollen than Pine.) It finally rained this evening & knocked some of it out of the air (we had hail, too. It started pea-sized, ened up marble-sized.) Thank goodness for Zyrtec.

Oh man, just shoot me now! I'd have to lock myself inside for weeks if that happened here! My allergies have never been as bad or as early as this year, but I've never seen anything like this!

Wow, what a lot of pollen. Allergic people must be suffering. Do you know what trees or plants are releasing all that pollen?

I just saw an advertisement that NBC with Brian Williams is going to talk about the pollen tonight on their evening news. We were in southern Mississippi last week and our truck was covered with it. It was falling like a fog in the air. I have a few allergies, didn't know pollen was one of them, but it did bother me a little. I don't know how the severe allergic people could handle it.

Spring 2007 Atlanta has a pollen count just under 6,000! I wore black corduroy pants that day and when I went into the office. I snapped the legs and a cloud of yellow pollen came off- sooooo nasty! I was counting down the days until we moved to WV.

The yellow stuff is PINE pollen Socks...it's so big that it's not supposed to bother peeps meaning it can't get up your nose...but it does...I was outside most of the day on Tuesday and felt soooo gritty when I came in...It's like working in a dust field and you know that can't be good for ya!

This morning the count was 5695...it rained just enough to make a yellow mud mess...COME ON RAIN...We need some more to wash this stuff outta the air!!

Isn't it aweful. And it's windy today...junk blowing every where. I got my inhaler refilled as everyone is so sick from breathing this junk.

I wish I would have put my outdoor cushions in the garage. They are green.

Not looking forward to that here... we have lots of oak trees.
Another reason to postpone any spring cleaning.
