Season 2 Doc Martin...great!

I just finished the last episode of season 2. It is so fun to watch. Very different from American series, many of which I also like. There's no laugh track, the scenery is gorgeous. I am so glad to have found this.

I think nam doc mai can be tricky when young. Mine spent the first 3 or 4 years just growing with a single small crop in between. This last year was the first year that I got a decent crop (now that it's like 6 years old). My neighbors had a similar problem with theirs. There is a variation of the nam doc mai known as the #4 which produces more heavily than the normal nam doc mai. One of the bigger mango propagators in the area has reportedly stopped propagating the regular nam doc mai in favor if the #4 due to it's greater production. I don't have a lot of experience with the nam doc mai #4, but the one tree that I saw was completely LOADED with fruit last year. If you like the nam doc mai as much as I do, you might consider planting the #4 :-). You probably shouldn't fertilizer your mangoes at all, especially if you're on muck. Too much fert can contribute to jelly seed in addition to inducing your mangoes to grow rather than fruit. Unfortunately, the nam doc mai has a reputation for splitting. And being on flooded muck soil, you might be stuck with a lot of split fruit... :-(. Harry is the area expert. Great. I'll have to check for it. I just started watching William and Mary. Martin Clunes is William, an undertaker who is a widower with 2 daughters. Mary is a midwife with 2 sons. They meet in the first episode through a dating service and then the dating and fun begins along with a wealth of misunderstandings, complications, and humor. It was filmed in 2003. thanks dnedd1 zone7 LI NY, you are right. i was gonna keep it in pot but then i didn't have space in the balcony so i decided to plant it outside on a hill top (sandy loam comprised). Tirana, Albania here has mainly a mediterranean climate and winter will come in november sometimes even late november to december (currently temp is 26-29 centigrades) and rarely goes minus 0 centigrades here so i am thinking to cover it when the cold arrives. as you said i will remove the 2 dead stems and the bottom shoots but where to cut/pug the 2 stems, do i cut at the point where they connect or a little lower?(i am little worried that the main trunk wont expand in 2 stems/branches if i cut both stems now) secondly, about the epsom salt, is epsom salt magnesium sulfate? just want to know the name it is sold when i go to buy it. and how much do you think i should use weekly (at the edge of the mulch)?

Thanks for the reply. The maha I will leave it but the nam Doc mai I'm unsure of, 1 branch is horizontal to the main leader. Should I prune it back to center? And since it branched I don't know where to cut the main lead. Should I let lead grow higher to space out the lower branches?

I'm still on Season 1, but I like it too. I watch it on Netflix, and sometimes I pause the action just to stare at the scenery.

Do you watch Midsomer Murders? Different English scenery, but just as beautiful.

Alisande, I am saving Midsomer Murders viewing for later. It was a choice between the two of them when I started. It is such a joy to watch sequentially and not have to wait for the production and tv schedule.

I'm a convert also. I watched the whole 4 "serieS". The British seem to have very short seasons, 4-7 shows vs US series, which sometimes have 20 per season. I hope Netflix will make the next series available soon. I'm also a convert to Downton Abbey. I have 1 or 2 shows yet to watch. I love Netflix.

DH and I have enjoyed so many UK series. Our library has almost everything we wanted on DVD. I can't even remember what season we're on with "New Tricks".

If you like "Doc", you might like "Reggie Perrin" (with Martin Clunes).

I've enjoyed the "Downton Abbey" series. However, we just watched Season Two, Episode 6, and I'm sorry to say it is starting to feel like a daytime soap. Our spinal-injury hero is evidently about to regain use of his 'nether parts', and we've had a case of *amnesia* in the plot. Oh, puhleese! This isn't up to the high standard of the story line thus far -- although The Lady and the Chauffeur is a trite cliche.

I really enjoy W & M too, though sometimes I wonder why Mary is always so crabby. I think it's very well done.
