Seawater for salt water chlorinator?

We live on an island and everything must be shipped in on pallets with associated expense and organizational hassle, which is one reason for this question....

We are installing a pool with a salt water chlorinator. To provide the salt needed, can I simply pump seawater into the pool? My research suggests that 4 gallons of seawater = about 1 lb of salt, so instead of shipping in 500+ lbs of salt when we fill the pool, I am thinking why not just pump in 2000 gallons of seawater along with the freshwater used to fill the pool........ Can anyone advise?
