Greetings to all,
I have a question for Sally (salijo). The quilterscache block you listed (Posy Chain) makes a finished 8" block. Just wanted to make certain that is the size you want before I get started on it.

I like the pattern too. My part of the state is experiencing the after effects of an ice storm. I am fortunate, since our electric was not lost. So, I am working on quilt blocks!!

Wow, you ladies are so talented! I have received 7 blocks already and my birthday isnÂt even until the end of the week. Of course I couldnÂt wait to open themÂand they are just phenomenal.

These are the ones that IÂve received so far:

Meima  a great star with batik fabric that has red, orange, green and blue tones in it.
Freekie  a very precise star (paper pieced?) with blue fabric on 2 of the points and yellow fabric on 2 of the points. It is stunning.
Sandlapper_rose  an intricate star with fabric that has swirls of plum, green, and cream.
Jackier123 Â an Ohio Star with really beautiful purple batik fabric
Grammyp  a star that looks similar to the Ohio Star, but maybe a variation? The fabric is a brilliant lime green/yellow that is super fun! The background is a subtle black on black.
TinyTeena  a complicated looking 8-pointed star with 3 different fabrics: orange batik, blue batik and lavender batik all on a black-on-black background.
Tdsully  and 8-pointed star with a pinwheel inside. The beautiful batik fabric is bright rainbow colored.

What a fun quilt this will make. Thank you all very much!

Glad you liked the star. I did paperpiece it because that´s the easiest way for me. I do have trouble with the inches because we don´t use them.

Patti60, your square arrived today. It is an 8-pointed star with a gorgeous deep red fabric. I love it and it will look great with the other ones that IÂve received so far. Thank you very much.

Well 2 more blocks arrived:
Redrosey_2008, your block is exquisite! It is a brilliant fuchsia and green. All of the small pieces remind me of a stained glass window.

Froggy Quilter (by the way, I love your name!) sent a gorgeous bold block that looks like a variation of the friendship star. It has orange, yellow, green purple and blue in it.

Thank you very much for all of the work that you put into these blocks.

For those of you who I have not received blocks from yet, first, do not worry if you are running late. Second, IÂm going to be out of town for the better part of the next two weeks. My husband will be home (so your blocks will be safe), but I will not be able to post about them for quiet a while.

I also wanted to say thank you to GrammyP and Meima for the extra fabric. It is always fun to get new fabric! IÂm sorry I didnÂt acknowledge it in my earlier email.

A few weeks ago I received a fantastic block from JudyLee59. It is an 8 pointed star with a diamond in the center. The fabric reminds me of a brilliant sunset. Thank you for the extra "sunset" fabric too!

Today I received SalijoÂs block. It s an 8-pointed star but it looks totally different from JudyÂs. It has gold points to the star and turquoise green pieces that make up a square/diamond in the center. It is really beautiful. Thank you also for the extra fabric, I really like blue.

Thank you everyone for such wonderful blocks and all of the extra goodies. IÂm going to take a picture sometime next week and post it so you can all see the incredible work that you and the other members of our group have done. Thank you again for making my birthday so much fun.

Lola, I'm so glad you like your block. I admit I chose a pattern that was more difficult than this newbie thought it would be...mostly I think because some of the directions and illustrations didn't make sense to me., and the first attempt was a disaster. But I was determined to make it! I hope you had a great birthday!
