What am I missing? Low divide sink

So, I've read all the threads here about sinks -- single bowl versus double bowl, etc. I really like the idea of a double bowl because I want to get my dish drainer off my counter -- it now stays there permanently because we wash a lot of dishes and they tend to stay there overnight and then we repeat the process. Even when guests come, it really does not get put away.

I am thinking the low divide sink might be a good compromise -- I can stil wash most big pans. But no one has seen a SS version. However, on galaxy tool supply there seems to be just that. I'm just wondering if I am missing something?

Galaxy has excellent customer service. Give them a call and find out the height of that center divide. I can't tell you the number of times I've been to that site and overlooked that option b/c I thought I wanted a 60/40 or 70/30 split.
You can also ask for a better price and free shipping if it's what you want.
Please post the height of the center divide if you call. Thanks.

I have a low divide in cast iron - chose a 60/40 split mainly bec I wanted the option of either self-rimming or undermount, in the same sink AND I didn't want to be constrained re placement of the soap dispensers (no holes for the faucet).

I think that I would have been quite happy with a large single bowl, but I do try to keep the small side clean and a spot for draining things/drip drying.

Actually the Blanco Performa Medium is 33 x 19 not 36 but it fits in a 36 inch sink base cabinet. The bowls are 10 inches deep and the divider is 6 inches high from the bottom of the bowl. The sinks are super stain and heat resistant. Thanks so much leela4! I know Romy's kitchen and she's helped me out on a few of my threads too - duh - totally didn't clue in! Her kitchen and the adjoining spaces are stunning. The Kohler Iron Tones sink is perfect in her kitchen. I have to put it at the top of my list for its "pretty" factor. Joseph: thanks!! Kohler doesn't seem to show that model on its site (either that or I just can't find it). I'm definitely considering the Vault as an option. "why do you think most folks prefer a single basin?" There are a thousand posts on this topic on this forum if you want to search. But in summary, (1) a single basin sink allows a large pan or pot to lay flat to be soaked, (2) you won't bang into the annoying divider while washing pots and pans, (3) you have more space under the sink because you don't have two drain pipes, (4) you use less water to soak pots and pans because you can lay them flat in the sink and fill them with water rather than having to prop them up against the divider and fill the entire sink bowl all the way to the top and still miss soaking the top third of the pan, (5) if you have a disposal and a two-bowl sink, the side without the disposal always has slimy contents in the drain strainer that you have to dump to the other bowl with the disposal and whichever side the disposal is on, you wished you had the disposal on the other side, and (6) as @joseph_corlett said, two-bowl sinks are relics from when dishwashers were not common, but now most everyone has a dishwasher where the dirty dishes should go (as an aside, do not rinse your dishes before putting in the dishwasher, just scrape).

I actually love my Kohler Smart Divide. The main reason I wanted some divide was because despite all my best efforts, we do sometimes have a few odd dirty dishes waiting to go in a full or running dishwasher...or clean dishes that need a little more drying time. I hate having counter clutter so I use the divided side to hide these items that are on hold. I can still use the larger side to clean dishes this way and because of the way it’s split, that side alone is so much roomier than any previous sink I’ve ever had. My sink is 5 years old so there may be better options out there...

I saw that MR Direct one -- $99, what is the catch? The only thing I noticed is that it does not say it is an undermount.

I will call Galaxy and ask them about the height of the divider. I don't know if I want a 50/50 split either, but I think this is something I want to consider.

i'm gonna chime in here only b/c i saw that lower divider and said to myself i wish i had that....
i went with a equally divided deep sink which is generally adequate but the lower divider would have been a better purchase
cleaning long pans, soaking long pans would have worked out better for sure
keep this in mind

Yes please report back!! I am looking for a low divide undermount, SS, 60/40 or similar. I'll report back what I find, too!

Well, I called Galaxy and they helpfully pointed out that the height of the center divide is on the web site -- it's on the drawing with all the measurements. The center divide is 4 1/2 inches in an 8 in. depth sink. Hope that helps someone else too!

Hope they were nice about it b/c I had to first find the pic, click on it, enlarge it, and then center the pic to find it, AND I knew what I was looking for! I looked through the text for the height and it's not there.
The s1210 doesn't come with the free grids like a lot of their other sinks.
Anybody order form MR International and what was the experience like?

I just ordered from MR Direct International over the phone. I called them b/c a sink I had wanted to order was no longer on the website.

I spoke with Jackie and she was great. She answered all my questions and was very helpful. The sink I wanted wasn't on the website b/c it is out of stock. I was still able to order it through her and it will be shipped as soon as it comes in. I also ordered my prep sink through them.

I placed the order Monday evening and my prep sink arrived this afternoon. It looks great - I also ordered the grid and the sink strainer. It came with the cut-out template and the clips for undermount installation. I am looking forward to seeing my main sink.

My cabinet installation is about 3 weeks out. I will report back regarding the installation once it is done.
