Thank you for the comments so far! I know I was really confused by where to even start here! No problem in sharing that color tool.. i learned alot about complimentary colors and such! and also those hex numbers can be brought to a paint store and theyll match it for you. So back to this kitchen! So in a kitchen, yes I agree warm tones are more my style for eating areas. I am wondering if I can redo the counter then with one of those counter refinishing kits..since it might be temporary if knock a wall down some time soon..the counter would eventually need replacing. Does anyone have experience with counter top refinishing? Here is a link I found with someone showing how to do it: What color would someone suggest? I am thinking about buying some birch/style cabinet doors instead of the glossy white melamine there now. Oh and if I change the countertop..now I am also going to need to do the tiles..they are also which blue/grey marble-like looking.. Big week for me...chose the soapstone (Minas)-and the fabricator threw in the marble (Carrara-but he had a remnant the right size). Have been tripping over samples of the Daltile "English Grey" and the "Brazilian Green" and Arizona tile's "Prairie Dusk" on the kitchen floor. Decided on 18" square tiles for floor. Have sample colors from Big Chill, AND got a start date from the contractor...2 weeks away, so I need to get a move on and get flooring, etc. ordered next week. I like the English Grey the best for the floor...it reads like the tile in my inspiration photo, and like the floor in the kitchen in the link below. My new concern (and maybe I should start a new thread) is in the mix of the cool (the floor is a cool grey) and the warm colors (the range backsplash.) Brighten it up for sure and it will feel cozy and dreamy with soft tans, creamy whites. It will make your space larger and you can then accent with pillows, sofa color, throw blankets. The color of trim reminds we of Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze. If you look at that color and then move toward complementary colors that will brighten, you can't go wrong.
