Pebble Tec or Pebble Sheen too hard for kids' feet? Coping ? too
Comments (15)We had a pool built last year and chose a Pebble Tec finish. I am now so sorry we did. I wish we'd saved the $$$ and had just gone for the old fashioned plaster finish. I'm 62 and use the pool for aqua exercises for my arthritis, and part of my routine is to walk MANY steps back and forth in the pool. The first few days I did this, the bottoms of my feet ended up RAW. At first I didn't make the connection. But finally on about the 3rd day, I realized it was from the surface of the pool. My feet were so sore I could hardly walk on them. My feet are not that sensitive. I walk around barefoot all day when I'm home. I now wear either water shoes or mesh shower shoes in the pool. I thought maybe I could "toughen up" the bottoms of my feet, but the few times I've tried to go in barefoot since the beginning, I can feel the irritation, and end up putting my shoes back on....See MorePebble Sheen vs Mini Pebble
Comments (11)The Pebble tec application is alot different then so called competitors. So much so they have or had patent on application process. at least 17 years ago when I was plastering 2-3 pebbles a day in floridas hay day. This process makes the pebble tighter together and more abundant in your finish exposure. The more pebble exposed means the less portland exposure wich makes for a smoother surface by far, longer life, and a richer look. Hands down theres no comparison, and no I dont work for P tech or sell for them. I try but too many unexperienced sales man with same view that they are all the same. No sir they are not. Pebble Tec truly cares about there product & if they knew that an installer was subbing cheaper not up to par pebbles they would pull there license so quick. I Promise you on that one. Ive seen it. They are one of the few crafts that dont sacrifice quality, and there company reps know there product in & out. which is a far far cry from the npt reps ive had to meet on jobs with issues that try to point the blame everywhere else to aleave there liability, and these guys have never had a trowel in there hand and the chemistry they know is recited right out of the text book. This is like going to the steakhouse and subbing for buffet. Its not worth it.I correct everybody out here when they refer to any exposed agg as pebble. like referring to all watches as rolexs!!...See Morepebble tec pebble sheen problems
Comments (21)I know this is an old post, but I am having a similar issue with same pebble plaster pictured in the original post except mine is already 12 years old. This year, I had the pool acid washed. The acid was diluted propery from what I know. The pitting isn't really terrible, a lot of pebbles come loose apparently when you acid wash, but the discoloration started to appear mainly in two small areas over the course of the season. I have never had a plaster issue before. My pool guy insists that it's not the acid wash - and maybe he's 100% correct - but I have no other explanation. Yet. I bought an underwater camera but haven't yet developed the film. In the meantime, can any of you here shed light on acid washing pebble plaster. I've read a lot of posts where pool experts warn against it. My pool guy assures me that it's a lot of chatter, and, that done right, acid washing pebble is fine. I treasure this guy, he's hard working and honest. It's not a good spot to be in. I just want to figure out what is going on....See Morepebble tec vs pebble sheen
Comments (10)pebbletec vs. pebble finish.....apples and oranges. painful sores?...that is beyond an extreme example, and again, i really doubt it was pebbletec or pebblesheen. both of those products use smooth, tumbled pebbles, there are no sharp edges (especially pebblesheen....pebblesheen feels like a the surface of a basketball). there are other (less expensive) pebble products out there -- a lot of other companies decided to mix plaster and pebbles to cash in on the pebble trend -- but go look at their samples and their websites...you can even see in the photos that the pebbles are not rounded or tumbled, and they often have a more plaster (which is rough) exposed than the pebbletec products. i have a 16 year old and a 13 year old, both with a boatload of male and female friends who spend a hours upon hours playing and roughhousing in our pool. no torn up feet. no sore feet. no complaints. ask your pb. read a bunch of the pebbletec threads here and learn from pebbletec owners. go try the pools yourself....See Morelisa_sandiego
