Do You Ever Get A Craving?

The other day I was so hungry for a Twinkie! I probably haven't had one in two years. So today I went grocery shopping and guess what? I didn't buy a Twinkie. How about you any food cravings out there?

oh man,for chocolate..not something sweet,just chocolate...and when its' bad,I get some...lol

Of course! Peanut Butter!

Did last week.
Opened, spooned it!
Ate my fill that afternoon and evening and washed the rest down the drain by bedtime.

Dare NOT keep in house!

I have been vegetable gardening since 1980, so that's a long time. About 4 years of that time, I didn't garden. This year was going well, then we just had a groundhog show up to eat my newly planted and growing well, broccoli and the brussels sprouts we were waiting for all season. Lettuce too. So now we are working on what to do about him before next spring rolls around. It's always something. I look forward to winter and I do need that down time. Usually by the time spring comes around, I'm enthusiastic all over again. But if I had a lot of frustration and bad harvests for multiple years, then yes, I'd probably have to ask myself is it worth it? I'd definitely take a whole season off if you feel like you are dreading it. I did that for 3 years, because I had witch grass in my vegetable garden patch and I couldn't cope with it any more and just left it for two years. Then I came up with a new idea of how to deal with it, using plastic to solarize the soil for a full season and that did the trick. The next year, I was really enthusiastic and felt triumphant having solved what seemed like an unsolvable problem. Doesn't hurt to take some time off.

Congratulations on a great check up! As to giving in to the cravings. YES! I learned a long time ago that if I ate a little of what I started craving, as soon as I started craving it, I didn't go overboard with it. If I try to not give in to it, when I finally do, I eat and eat and eat and eat, whatever I'm craving. When I crave chocolate really bad, is usually when I get charlie horses in my feet and legs. If I remember to eat something with lots of magnesium, or take a magnesium tablet, I no longer have the charlie horses or the chocolate cravings. What I hate, is when I am craving something, but can't figure out what it is! That's when I really binge, trying to figure out what I am craving. Tami

Thank you all for your advice and pictures. I just LOVE them! After a weekend of being laid up again (fell off a machine at the gym and totally wrecked my back but am finally feeling a bit better now), I am hopingto get out there and prune this coming three day (can you say YEA!) weekend! Still on the fence about my climber as she is throwing out all sorts of laterals right now so this could be a good bloom year unlike prior years. She may have just had to have more time to come into her own. However, I am seeing that there are all sorts of little oak trees and other plants coming up through my rose bushes due to the mulch and birds. UGH! I may have lost my Sharifa Asma because of it if I can't pull them out. I have a feeling my garden is going to be very sparse this year due to a bunch of new roses going in to replace my old ones. Evelyn and Ambridge are reverting back to rootstock, so out they go. I have oak trees growing up in my Sharifa Asma as well as Evelyn, Mary Webb and now one of my Brother Cadfaels! I also have another unidentified bush growing up in my Peach Blossom. So it looks like I pretty much get to start from scratch all over again. Looks like an expensive year!

I do get tired, but I also understand how important it is now more than ever to be in tune and aware of the direction we are headed in. A lot of the decisions being made currently by our politicians will affect literally all of us in one way or another, no one is exempt, so it's important. I do try to be choosy about who and what stories I watch or read. I don't want to hear the opinions and propaganda from the talking heads. It's near impossible to find a news source that offers just the facts as opposed to people who are paid to just hear themselves talk, but I try to filter through it the best I can to reach my own conclusions. Chisue is right, much of it is to wear us down and turn us into zombies about it. Don't let them win!

Recently I had to have Graham Crackers. The plain ones..not cinnamon crisp, not honey grahams. I'm now on my third box!!!

All your cravings sound pretty good to me! I don't even eat dessert or anything sweet everyday and I do all that baking.

Plain Graham Crackers are good with Hellman's mayo spread on top. Nothing else, just mayo.

When ever I open a jar of maraschino cherries for baking, the smell of them makes me want a manhattan on the rocks. I usually have one or two on my B'day. Dottie

All kinds of goodies that I shouldn't eat I get a craving for like brownies etc. I never get a craving for celery. I just got a craving for lemon bars or gingerbread. I went ahead and made the gingerbread because I am the only one who likes lemon bars. DS LOVES gingerbread! With whipped cream!

Oh, I forgot - pistachios, especially the salt-n-pepper flavored.

Once in a great while I will crave something sweet, but not often. I usually indulge myself with a small bag of candy, eat it fast then no more for a couple of months. I do buy biscotti or cookies to dunk, but that doesn't seem to make me gain weight. So I have something like that almost every day.

Licorice, my fav is Good n Plenty. OMG! It's not on my Diet because of Diabetes, but I buy my Mom a box of them and when I visit her I have one. LOL! Just visited her today. I had a Good n Plenty and a Milk Dud (her fav).

Took the last pack from a box ... some items there messy, straightened them ...

... decided that, having had a piece of cherry pie a while ago, that was enough sweet for a while.

Decided to have a couple of plain cookies with milk, instead ... then remembered that it's time for my water pill (for swelling legs) ... so it's no eating for a while.

ole joyful, you sound like my husband. He keeps a stash of Little Debbies at his business and has been known to have Little Debbie for lunch! He shouldn't be eating so much sweets, but he does. He goes to the Dollar Store and stocks up, with many boxes of them. We have a dinner someplace, he won't eat much of the main meal,saying he can't eat much anymore, but will load his plate with dessert. He isn't over weight though. The kids can't believe he eats so much dessert.

I don't crave sweets. I do crave crispy fried chicken every once in awhile. When I can't stand it any more I go to KFC buffet and get my fill, usually a few pieces and I am good for quite awhile then.

You sound like me Nita az every once in awhile, I like to have some KFC and enjoy it. It is so greasy but good. None really close to us though.
