I read about this yesterday. People will crawl out of the woodwork for this, I'll bet. They should limit it to people who don't mind having the rest of the world think they're stupid idiots- who bought it thinking it was "HEALTHY chocolate/nut spread" as opposed to "sweet and gooey chocolate in a jar". Geez. Another frivolous, stupid lawsuit.

I went on a search again and found this if your interested. I've never tried it or the real stuff.

Homemade Nutella

The original recipe instructs to strain the spread at the very end, but I don�t mind a little nut texture in mine. Adapted from the Encyclop�die du Chocolat, by way of David Lebovitz.

1 1/2 cup whole hazelnuts
1 1/2 cups whole milk
3/4 cup powdered milk
1 Tbsp. mild-flavored honey
pinch salt
1 heaping cup chopped bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, or chips
1 scant cup chopped milk chocolate, or chips

On a rimmed baking sheet, toast the nuts in a 400�F for 10 minutes, or until fragrant and their skins begin to pop. Transfer to a tea towel, gather into a bundle and rub together to remove as much of their skins as possible. While warm, transfer to the bowl of a food processor and blend until they go from finely ground to pasty and thick, like natural peanut butter.

Meanwhile, warm the milk, powdered milk, honey and salt in a small saucepan just until it starts to boil. Remove from heat. In a glass or stainless steel bowl set over a pan of simmering water (or in the microwave), melt the chocolates, stirring occasionally until smooth.

Add the melted chocolate to the ground nuts and continue to process the mixture, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as necessary. Add the warm milk mixture and process until everything is well blended and as smooth as you can get it. Makes about 2 cups

Never tasted it, but have been tempted to buy some.

I grew up with this stuff. It isn't as sweet in Germany as it is here.

I could have chocked, the first time I saw a commercial that touted it as a healthy breakfast addition.

There really isn't anything healthy about it.

But, neither are fried foods, actually just about all fast foods.

People eat those anyway as well.

On our cruise two years ago a gal at our nightly dinner table was crazy about Nutella. The first night she asked to see the head chef and proceeded to tell him she'd like Nutella ice cream every night during the two week cruise. He explained that the ship did not have Nutella on board but would get some at our first stop, Seattle. Which they did and she had Nutella ice cream nearly every night. Nothing particularly special about it really, but she liked it and was a happy camper.

You just have to eat Nutella once to know that it isn't a low calorie, low fat spread. I can't eat peanut butter so this is a nice substitute but I don't dare buy it too often because eating it all the time can pack on the pounds. I can easily eat it by the teaspoon because it is so good. If you like those Ferrero Rocher gold wrapped candies you will like Nutella.

I had this about 12 years ago when we had our German exchange student living with us. I think her parents sent her some. I liked it alright but I knew it wasn't healthy. In their defense though, I think the company does deserve to get sued. It is false advertising.

Nutella today is nothing like the hazelnut spread I grew up with. I believe we probably had the imported version. You could actually taste the hazelnuts back then.

I just made some so it wasn't nearly as sweet as what is sold in the stores and has minimal ingredients - hazelnuts, walnut oil, cocoa and icing sugar. The kids like it. Even though it has way less sugar than Nutella it is still considered a treat in our home. I think it's crazy someone can sue over this. What about taking responsibility upon yourself to learn how to read a nutrition label.

I've never bought the stuff-my favorite spread is Peanut Butter, which I realize is loaded with fat and calories.

o.k. if you want to experience nutella in an even more unhealthy way here ya go. I have made these, and they do make your eyes roll back in your head, haha.

Slice pound cake, butter one side of each slice, like you do for grilled cheese sandwiches.

spread nutella on the un-buttered side of each slice of pound cake. Add sliced strawberries sandwiched between two slices of pound cake (nutella side in) put in sandwich maker and cook for about, hmmmmm, I think it was 30 second to a minute. Not positive about that.

Anyhow, sugar me up, fat me up, but it's so good. (Strawberries are good for you!!!!! haha)

I would never buy it because it contains hydrogenated fats here in Canada. Same reason I don't buy "regular" peanut butter. Maranatha natural for me, just peanuts and salt.

I love the commercial "a glass of milk in every jar". JAR. Not serving LOL!

I have tried some very good stuff that was supposed to be more like the European version that doesn't contain trans fats. It was runnier and messier, which is probably why they added the 'crisco' to it.

I don't like the taste of it at all.

People are so ridiculous. It's creative marketing - the same thing that tries to convince people that eating Lucky Charms is a balanced breakfast cause it has whole grains and calcium! It doesn't talk about the sugar or preservatives but technically it's not lying and neither is Nutella. Those proclamations are there to make people feel better about eating or feeding their kids crap food so they will buy the products. And it works.

Now if the nutritional information was incorrect or mislabeled, that would be one thing, but I get tired of people not taking any personal responsibility. If you're too lazy to read the label and instead make all of your decisions from the TV, then you have no right to complain when it takes literally 2 seconds to read a label.
