countertop overhang with flush inset base cabinets?

I believe with base cabinets with standard overlay doors/drawers, the granite edge overhangs the cabinet boxes by about 1.5" to cover the door/drawer fronts plus a little extra. What is the standard amount of counter overhang for inset cabinets where the doors and drawers are flush with the cabinet stiles? I am going for a modern/transitional look, so I am thinking minimal overhang, but I don't want it to look silly.

there is no standard, afaik.

i have a large overhang and it looks modern. The edge you get sculpted on your granite will determine looks more than the amount of overhang. My opinion.

Overhangs are generally measured from the cabinet box, not the door or drawer front. E.g., for non-inset cabinets (framed or frameless), a standard cabinet is 24" deep but the standard overhang is 25.5" deep. This 1.5" covers the door or drawer front (usually 3/4" to 1" thick) plus the slight bit of opening b/w the cabinet box and the door/drawer front. Then add another 1/2" or so to extend past the door so spills are directed away from both the door/drawer front and the interior of the cabinet/drawer. The overhang has to extend past the doors/drawer fronts, not be as deep as them. It's also a good thing to cover most of your knobs & drawer pulls so they're not digging into you as you lean against the counter. With inset cabinets, the 3/4" or so for the doors/drawer fronts isn't needed, so a 3/4" to 1" overhang is usually plenty.

I am a fabricator. A mitered 2CM (~3/4") edge would be at least 7/8" OH, more likely an inch or more. This is because the vertical miter piece is still the 3/4" thick material meaning even if it is right against the cabinet the horizontal piece must project 3/4" [ast the edge of the cabinet to make the miter joint. Normal practice would be to leave a least a bit of room between the back of the vertical piece and the cabinet face. 1-1/2" overhang seems a bit much. 3CM (~1-1/4") with no miter could have a reduced overhang; the min we do is 3/4".

I have inset cabinets and did a 1/2 inch overhang. I have a traditional kitchen. I agonized over this and at this point cannot remember why but then worried that it was too short and stuff would run down the counter. I've had no trouble with it but would be more concerned if it was smaller because of the lack of the buffer to the cabinet fronts- for both standing in front or drips coming down.

I will do a very simply edge, probably an eased edge because a true square edge might be too sharp with little ones. I wondered if 1/2 inch would be enough. I do not want to go very deep because of a spacing issue at transition points.
