Worms all over sides after 2 weeks
Comments (9)Maybe they are trying to get out, and maybe they are just crawling around on the damp plastic. They seem to like to do that sometimes, and it doesn't always mean anything is wrong, in my experience. I'd like to know more about your situation before I know what to suggest. What is your bedding? And how much bedding is in there? You say it's "still dry." Do you mean it's not too wet? It should be damp, as you probably know. I like to use a lot of torn-up corrugated cardboard as bedding, and it's pretty easy to have it damp but not soggy. They worms will consume it over time, just as they do the "food." (It's all food to them.) Also, what kind of bin do you have? Knowing the answers to these questions will probably help folks make good suggestions. Also, on the subject of how much food scraps to put in, you are not the first person who has said they wait for one batch to disappear before adding more. This is not what I do. I add garbage as I have it. Sometimes I will hold off on adding more, if I have an especially large amount, because things can turn aerobic in the bin. Basically, however, I like to have deposits of kitchen waste in various stages of decomposition in the bin. That way while the worms are working in one area, the next batch is getting to the stage where the worms can consume it. (Okay, so that's a little off topic from your question. And while your bin is new and you don't have a huge number of worms, you are wise not to overfeed them.) Anyway, Andy, you may be fine, but I'm interested to know if you have enough bedding and it is at a comfortable moisture level for the worms. If that is the case, and you have sufficient aeration, I wouldn't worry. mbetts...See MoreHelp! Oil paint still tacky after 20 hrs! URGENT!!
Comments (12)Any time you use oil based paint, it must be 70 degrees or higher. Oil based paint takes a long time to dry and even longer to cure. I am curious how humid or damp the room is because the humidity and moisture will affect the drying time. Keep the room warm until the paint cures. Get your second coat on once it is dry enough. Don't wait a week to put your second coat on as the paint will be fairly cured and the surface will have to much sheen to accept the second coat....See MoreAura Paints still smells one week after painting
Comments (24)Quick update: BM rep came by my house a few days ago and took a look. Said smell normally disappears sooner, but wasn't too concerned. He would have been concerned if there was a rotton egg smell as this means mold or bacteria is in the paint (it must have happened before for them to check for this). He said this is only the 2nd case of someone complaining about Aura's odor lasting too long. He said the other people used Mr. Clean to prep the walls so he was interested to hear how I preped them. In the end he said nothing stands out as improper preparation. He suggested I keep more windows open while I'm painting (I had all the hallway and other bedroom windows open but keep them closed in the room I was painting to try to minimize the amount of dust in the air. I opened them after painting). Anyway he offered me a complementry can of Aura which I will use for another coat in the next few days. I'll update the thread again to see if the odor experience is different....See MoreTacky deck after painting
Comments (0)Hi, I painted my deck with SW Deckscapes solid stain. I cleaned it thoroughly with the same brand paint and sealant removal , power washed , let it dry for 2 days and then painted. I used a roller. Let it dry over night and applied a second coat. It has been 4 days now, and when I walk on my deck it feels tacky. I cannot see the footprints but still my feet does not feel the complete bone dryness. Will it ever dry.? The first coat also was tacky before I applied the second coat. Any suggestions? Temps in the 80's here in northeast during day and 60's in the evenings. Any suggestions or tips.?...See Moremomofboys3
