I am starting on my daughter's new bed quilt. She loved her other one to pieces. It wasn't well constructed to begin with and the fabric is really thin. One of my first quilts!

I finished a top that I've been working on for a few years. I have 150 blue/neutral 4 1/2" HST for another project but think I need a few more light colored blues, so I'll look into that later on today.

Im trying to finish a patriotic quilt but the size is bothering me..its 4 squares across and 5 squares long..if I put borders on it, it will get too long for how wide I want it..the only thing I can think of is make it wider with more squares but the pattern in the quilt is already set....I may just finish it and say done but it wont fit any bed in my house and I really would like to use it..oh well.......Judy

Plus just got back from Joanns for fabric for dresses for the girls. Doing a sew-along on the dresses on another forum and should have them cut out this weekend.

I just finished machine quilting a crazy quilt, I had been working concurrently with my Dresden Plate quilt. It struck my fancy, so it got the most attention. I was SUPPOSED to be doing the Dresden Plate and this one was just to keep using up my scraps as I generated them. Hah! I still have three more plates to do out of twelve, and it just got placed in a pile for a week or two.

This is my second Crazy Quilt, and I never get tired of doing them. They may be my fav because I keep wanting to default back to them. I did the blocks on a foundation and then separated them with teal green shashing to cool down the pattern a bit.

Made it in two pieces so I could more easily quilt it, and am now ready to sew the backing together by hand to hide the joint. I'll curve off the corners and put a narrow teal green binding around it. I could finish it tomorrow if I put my mind to it.

I'm doing applique in my lap for my BOM while watching the football playoffs. I think it's sports that switched me from piecing to applique. When super bowl is over, I can piece again. LOLO

I have been appliqueing dresden plates for the past two weeks during football games. I have 16 of 36 done. I think I am about ready to switch back to knitting or crocheting for a while.

I just finished a queen-sized quilt that has to go in the mail on Monday. It's for a benefit for our nephew--long story, he's doing great--and the benefit committee didn't decide that they wanted a quilt until the middle of December, when my schedule was already full of Christmas sewing and knitting. I did get a few blocks made before the holidays, then nothing for over a week and the last two weeks have been pretty much non-stop whenever I had time. This week the house went on hold so that I could get it done. I'll post pictures later--it's in the wash right now.

I did a mini shop hop today with a quilter friend! What a great day!
When I got home of course I had to do some sewing. I found several FQs of 1930s type fabric, so I made 2 of my own London Square birthday blocks.

Tomorrow I hope to make a couple more or at least get some more cut out and ready to go. This week I started my Fun & Done so tomorrow I would like to take some pictues of the process and get those posted, too.

Hoping to finish up a binding on one quilt and baste another. Although, I took a long arm class today so I really want to get some backings done and get back on that long arm with some of the tops I have piled up!!

I'm catching up on laundry and doing some cooking for the week. I'm plugging along on my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. I took a break yesterday and started on a birthday block with a summer theme. I like it so much, I may have to make one for myself. This is a no-pressure weekend.

I finished piecing my wallhanging for the challenge. I don't have the necessary items to start quilting, so I thought I would start on the second wallhanging for the challenge.

This is a learning experience right? Well, I definitely learned something. This project involves fusing pieces onto a background fabric. I ironed on the bonding material for the first couple of pieces, then for some reason, I decided to try ironing it with the fabric on top and the bonding material on the bottom. Except I had the bonding material on the wrong side and the "glue" side was down.....yup, now I have a ruined ironing pad. I thought I might be able to pick it off, but that didn't get very far. This is a table top ironing board and I'm not sure I've ever seen just covers for sale anywhere. Sigh....

Salijo, I make my own ironing board covers. Just flip the board over onto your fabric and cut out about a 4-5 inches away from the edge of the board to make a casing for elastic. Voila! New board cover.

I've done that bonding thing, too. It's maddening.

I've been moaning this weekend, but still started cutting out a bunch of my 30 Something (improved four patch?) quilt I posted about so long ago. I've been looking for a suitable green/touch of pink and yellow border all this time. I'd come to this BIG DECISION to use purple sashing with a yellow/touch of purple and green floral border print.

Now I'm home with three yards of my chosen purple daisy on yellow feedsack border. Very excited. BUT,

There's NO GETTING AROUND IT. Here at home, it's purple daisys on chartreuse, fairly screams chartreuse when it's next to all my other yellows. I just don't know. I just don't know.

Calliope, when you said you're machine quilting a crazy quilt. Are you doing the fancy stitches to quilt it with, or did you embroider and now doing an all over machine quilting. Doing the fancy stitches sounds like a neat idea. I'm still hand quilting a friendship quilt that my group did the blocks for at least 20 years ago. Thought it's about time to get it done. I want to start quilting on one for DD, and am making myself get this one done first.

Working on my challenge project, about half of the 169 sqs. appliqued so far, I will need until the end of March to get this finished! Started a baby quilt but can't decided on which border to use. Started back quilting my star quilt, put it to rest for a week or so but it started "calling" this morning. Have been sick with a bad cold but better now so maybe I will be motivated again.

I've gotten my littlest dd's dress up to the point of zipper & hems. I've run the embroidery machine a bit and need to finish some name patches now. Cut fabric for big dd's dress.

Would still like to get to my bella bella quilt sometime though.

I did one of my birthday blocks for the swap....and decided to try something new so I picked up some fabrics and did a kids Diappearing Nine-Patch - a pattern I've never tried..and I've never done a kids quilt before - so I had fun - the top is just about done....now will need to decided how I'll quilt...not sure who will get this one - I have no children..2 nieces - and this is definitely a little boy's quilt - my nieces are too old....

Ohio Judy, no unfortunately I am not doing the fancy hand embroidery on this one. This one is destined to be a utility quilt, and I put in so many tiny pieces that I'd go crackers trying to stitch around all of them. I shall someday for sure. I love it when they are done traditionally. I just did simple pattern in each block and outlined the sashing. Enough to make it washing machine worthy. I generally do hand quilting and am just venturing into learning the techniques of machine quilting.

Today I went to church in the morning and then sewed the HSTs for the Jitterbug quilt into 4 patches and pressed them. I also rearranged some of my embroidery supplies in my sewing room. This evening I watched TV with DH.
