My home, laptop and school monitors are all wide screen, 15-in I think. I LOVE the wide screen!!!!!!!!!!! I can open two Word documents side-by-side and be able to read both. Great thing for homework!

Glenda, I have a 19" also and it does take some getting used to. Once you are used to it you will love it.

22" widescreen at home - love it. I think my office one is 17". I was afraid if I got a big one at home, my office one would look too small, but it doesn't.

I have a 19" on my desktop at home and at work, 15" on the laptops, Deans desktop is a 17".

It took me a while to get used to my 19", but I now love it.

Glenda, you'd go nuts at my desk.

Because I'm a graphic designer, I work on a Mac for most applications and a PC for others. My Mac has two widescreen monitors, 19" and "23", side by side. They are synced up so I can work on both at the same time. I can drag windows, images, file names, etc. back and forth between the two or even straddle the two monitors as I work. It's very nice.

If you measure the monitor faces edge to edge as they sit next to each other, I have 38" linear inches of monitor in front of me. And when I turn to my right I have 20" widescreen for my PC.

It feels odd to me to sit down in front of just one little monitor. :-)

I don't do anything complicated, don't even know how to post pictures. But my 17" wide-screen is driving me crazy! Former boss thought he was doing me a favor by giving me one!

Any and all pictures sent are so distorted they are worthless. The screen size is past the boundary of the actual monitor, so I don't have access to the print function of email. And so far past that I can't grab and move the edge. I haven't been able to find out how I can change that, and have decided to just live with it until I find someone who will exchange a normal-size monitor for this one.

My laptop is 17" widescreen and the desktop PC is a 19". I love the widescreen! DH is begging for a 22" for his pc. His birthday is in May so he just may get one!

You'll get used to the new size before you know it!

Mine is 19 inches. I think its just right. DS has a 22 inch in the room around the corner here. The first few weeks I would use his pc and that monitor I felt like my head was an old typewriter, moving back and forth across the page. I'm used to it now but I though it was way too big at the time.

Is it the size or is it making your eyes hurt, Glenda? When I first got my new one it hurt my eyes terribly so I wore sunglasses when I was on the computer. I looked oh so fashionable, dahling...I realized one day I could turn the resolution way down, and voila, no more sore eyes...

It just seems so glaring and large!

My monitor is 17 inches I think. It came with this PC, and is much bigger than my old one. When I am just surfing and mostly reading like here at KT, I keep the reading area pulled in from one side so I don't have to keep looking from side to side.

I do like the full wide screen when I am watching the animal cams. Great pics then.

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't like widescreens. That is, I'd probably like them in a monitor, but I really don't like widescreen TVs. Yet that's all they have these days.

I have two LCD monitors, 18" and 19". Because I bought them at different times, the 18" cost almost $700 and the 19" cost more like $200. I like the 18" a little better, but that has nothing to do with its size.

I imagine that if you can find someone who knows how to do it, there's an adjustment that will size your image to your screen.

Often there are buttons, rollers, etc. that do that along the edge of the screen. Do you have any like that? There used to be some that would move the image up or down, or side to side, or shrink or enlarge it to fit your screen.

Do you have a community college nearby? Quite likely one of the students, or a prof, there, could fix it for you, if you do a little nosing around the computer dept.

Do some of your local friends know of a computer repair/troubleshooting place where they do good work and don't charge an arm and a leg?

Have you made a list of all of your friends (since you were a kid), with email address, and what training they have, work they do, interests, hobbies, skills and other information that they may have that might be of iterest to you sometime.

Send a message to the part of that group that live more or less locally, telling of your problem. Maybe one of them could come over to fix it easily.

Good luck in getting your system working better.

My screen is 16", corner to corner. Former one was 14", recently acquired one that I expect to use soon is only 14", too.

Glenda, can you take it to a Walmart store? The electronics department employee on duty should be able to adjust it for you.

My laptop is 15" and my pc is 19".

It can be tough going from a CRT to an LCD, or even from one LCD to another.

Give it a day or two.

My monitor is a 22" widescreen Viewsonic.

I needed it for a project I was working last year.

My monitor has some adjustment knobs on the side edge - didn't notice them at first and actually came upon them quite by fluke.
Glenda, if you feel around on the bottom, the sides, the top, you should find something that will let you adjust the resolution.
Until then, try the shades if you can, it works really well.

Glenda if you have a standard 19" and not widescreen, right click on your desktop, select properties, settings and set to 1280 x 1024

I have a 22" widescreen and love it. You can view 2 pages side-by-side. My next one will probably be 24"....

Linda, you are right to remind Glenda that "size" doesn't matter. LOL!

I have a 19" standard screen on my desktop and a 17" widescreen on my laptop.

My screen is only 19", Main Main has a 22". I wish his computer was on the internet, I'd use it.

I did, just now, minimized, and right clicked an open space and nothing.
Just check box and it said Widescreen Multi function!

ok, must be something vista I do not know about.....I looked it up and it is a widescreen monitor, should set resolution to 1440 x 900. It may be set by default when installed, but not always

try going through control panel/display/settings...other than this, I am lost.....have Parke look at it maybe

recommendation...get a mac. ;-)

I realize I didn't provide any help in my last post. Really, though, you just have to adjust the screen resolution. I'll try to log in from work tomorrow and give play by play instructions.

19" LCD at home, very nice, but the 22" widescreen at work is nicer -- very convenient to see two docs side by side.

Duhh...I realized my PC laptop was sitting just a foot or so away...

First, I'm assuming Vista and NT aren't that different, which may be a mistake, but...

1) click START at lower left of screen
2) click on CONTROL PANEL
3) click on APPEARANCE AND THEMES
4) click on CHANGE THE SCREEN RESOLUTION
5) Under "Display", check that your monitor is listed -- select it.
6) Under that, move the slider toward MORE RESOLUTION. Also, check the COLOR QUALITY -- maximize that to whatever is listed.
7) Click OK, close APPEARANCE AND THEMES, and you should be good to go.

Hubby got me a 20 inch flat screen and I love it.
