Thanks so much, and to think I'm such a big overstock purchaser and I never thought of going there. I bought my hardware for the kitchen, and scarf valances for the LR/DR...so now I will look to see if they have the right size.

Daisy thanks so much! I'm happy with my kitchen. The BS is from HD, I found it on the online site. Not all stores carry it, for the last 5ft I travled 65 miles....but am so happy I did, I paid 10 and it was 18 at a local tile store.

I looked at overstock and HD, and other sites only to find the width of my window (79) doesn't come in ready made shades, then I thought I could put two shades together, but DH said NO! I'm again looking at reviews for online shade orders, since Levelor/Balli from custom places are out of my budget. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Ask DH to reconsider. That is a long span and shades get heavy to pull up and then strings tend to break. And sometimes you may want to block sun from just one window and not the other...or let air in from one at night but not the other. Not to mention saving $$.

I have a triple window in my craft room and went with three roll up blinds from lowes for cheap and they work fine and I do get a lot more flexibility on light control.

Ditto Annie. The weight would most definitely wear on the cords after use. My sister in law had that happen to her honeycomb shades and they aren't as heavy as bamboo would be. She's checked into having them repaired and it's almost as much as new shades so for now she has to put up with them hanging crooked when she opens them. Drives her crazy, but it's not in their budget after two daughters weddings.

I also don't recommend a single bamboo shade that wide. I had the same issue while looking to cover our 74" wide dining room window. I was told the shade will probably weigh over 20lbs and the lifting cords and mechanisms will wear out pretty quick.

Window Blind Outlet sells ready-made sizes up to 74" but they recommended to us that single shades shouldn't exceed 60" in width. Especially if the shade will be opened and closed frequently.

I love your backsplash. Did you go with the pearl white? Do they sell it by a sq feet each?

vidyaram yes it's pearl white Jeffer Court Beveled tile, I purchased it at HD for 9.99 sq ft. If your buying them please purchase extras so you can go thru them before the installation, there were quite a few that had black spots, I was able to return the extras with no problem. I used pencil where normally you would use bullnose because there is no bullnose.

I had a lot of luck with JCPenney. I liked the idea of being able to return them to a local store if there was a problem or if I hated them. I'm not sure what is happening now with their prices, etc. but when I bought them before I always waited for a sale, then added a great coupon and would get free shipping.

Beekeeper I just went to their site and am now thinking of ordering their custom shades, my window's are an odd size. Their price for custom is surprisingly good (not as good as ready made), but better than other custom. Your suggestion of waiting for a sale is great, I will wait it out. I decided to order two 39.5 inch shades. I'm hoping when I put them together it looks like one valance. Can't wait to be finished with this project, next year's project is the laundry room.
