Amount of Chemicals Needed at Startup this Spring?

Hi,

My pool company has offered a ala carte startup plan this year so I will be responsible for putting in my own chemicals. I thought it would be a simple thing to order a startup kit but there seem to be different options and quantities listed. Is this just marketing or does what I need depend on location and conditions on opening?

I have a 30,000 gal. inground in Western NJ that I will finish filling with well water. Last year I had significant algae in only one spot (where the cover didn't get put on as well) and it took a lot of work to clean it up. My pool is usually pretty and clean when opened but this year I had to go to a waterbag cover so I don't know if it will be the same.

Metal remover and clarifier, algae preventor or remover (or have both on hand to see if I have algae already) and how much? How much shock or chlorine? And, does household bleach really work just as well for chlorine, taking into account the difference in strength?

I would really appreciate any advice anybody can give. Thank you.
