Ventured to Paw Paw Patch.
Hadn't been there in several years, when I my table was next to Colin Powell having lunch. He was in town with wife, who is from Bham. He was by himself. And YES it was him.

Enjoyed hamburger steak, grilled onions, turnip greens, squash casserole and Mexican cornbread.

Ahhhh, so good!

We had Manhattan Clam Linguine and tossed salad.

I finished up odds and ends in the frig.

I received a bunch of rhubarb and some chervil from a friend. The chervil is so beautiful looking.....nice healthy green leaves, that smell so good. Like strong celery.

I chopped some up and threw it in some Habitant veggie soup. It really gave it a fresh lift.

I took a rhubarb crumble out of the oven not long ago and we're just having that with some ice cream.

Glenda, was that today or a few years ago you sat next to
Colin Powell? When I was a young army bride, it was during the Vietnam war and he was a general. He gave a speech in Okinawa in the theater and of course, we wives were "asked" (meaning you will be there) to attend. He was absolutely mesmerizing and the best speaker I've ever heard. This was in the mid-60's. When he was finished, he walked down the aisle toward the back and stopped and acknowledges us young wives with a nod. He has a whole heck of a lot of charisma!

Tobygirl, I am craving pasta. Maybe this weekend.

Jasdip, I have a love/hate relationship with rhubarb. I have to have a ton of sugar on it to taste good to me. It also leaves my teeth feeling like I lost all the enamel--LOL!

I made split pea soup today. Also made whole wheat biscuits, after the talk of biscuits the other day. I think my flour must be getting 'old'.....they weren't as flavorful as they were the last time I made them.

It's now getting hot/humid in my part of Ohio. I ran the furnace over the weekend, and now I'm about ready to turn on the air as it's 81 here at the moment.

Grilled steaks and steamed Brussels Sprouts with fresh Pineapple for desert.

Had a great lunch today at Logan's for Cheryl's birthday. We 3 gals each got the Southwestern Barbecued chicken, my sides were onion petals and the apples. Of course all you can eat yeast rolls and peanuts. I had iced tea also. So this evening I just ate some leftover chicken and noodles and the last piece of the birthday cake. Very hot and humid here today too and then a very heavy rain this evening.

I did a double take when I saw him, cause he's so eyecatching.

Being I was so close to him, I would take a glance from the corner of my eye.

Everyone left him alone and let him enjoy his lunch at the Paw Paw Patch.

I know what you mean, Shirley. Last week we had morning lows in the 40's and beautiful daytime temps. This week--hot, hot, hot! 91 yesterday. Probably the same today.

Carolyn, you always fix the best sounding meals. I have no clue what pastitsio is, but I bet it's good :-)

Ravencajun, I saw the prettiest Brussels sprouts at Publix today, but Harry told me earlier this year it "wasn't his favorite". The translates into he doesn't like it :-) Can I have some of yours???

I am glad my husband loves Brussels sprouts as much as I do, I like them roasted in the oven with olive oil and a little Parmasean, but he wants them steamed with a little butter , I can't complain they are good that way too. Costco has them fresh in the bag that can go right into the microwave and steams them perfectly. Yummy.
