Cheap Temporary Fix for Wooden Deck

lydia1959

We have a 11+ year old deck which we plan on replacing with something maintenance free (possibly even a room addition) in 08 or 09. We would do it next year and I could avoid this posting altogether, except that my DH's contract is up in 07 and we don't want to spend a lot of money in the event he might go on strike. Anyhow, my DD is graduating next year and we'll be having a large party and want things to look good. Unfortunatly the deck doesn't look all that great. We used a deck stain (more like a paint) on it about 5 years ago, then took it off the flooring a couple years ago, leaving it on the handrails and posts. So at this time it looks rough - but we don't want to spend more than a couple hundred dollars since it will be getting replaced in the future.

Ideas? Products? We won't do anything to it until next spring, so it just has to last for a year or two. TIA
