Salt water pools and Oklahoma flagstone coping
Comments (5)I have never seen damage attributable to salt pools. Water damage and freeze thaw cycles, but not due to being a salt pool. Properly bonding to the same ground as the power source prevents it. As long as all fixtures, ie lighting, pumps, etc..., you'll be fine. Some builders take the extra step of using plastic sockets, rails and ladders. painting dive stand hardware is also a good idea, even if stainless hardware is used. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Scott...See Moreflagstone coping texture & iron v, tile ??Help!
Comments (8)We have Connecticutt Bluestone, and while we really like it, it can stain (note, the black stain by the second step). We don't mind, as it adds to the 'natural' look, I guess. If you're real particular, I'd prolly steer clear of this one. It's also tumbled, so there are no sharp edges (we got little ones, so we were very careful with this one). You can tumble any flagstone, but it's extra, except for the Connecticutt Bluestone, as that's how it comes. It also doesn't snag suits any more than cement or bullnose. Good luck! -April...See MorePoured in Place Versus Flagstone coping

Comments (4)There are a number of self leveling caulks that are made for this. The mason often does this with his preferred choice in the color of your choice. It comes in 3 or 4 colors, depending on the brand used. Some PBs will set and leave a tear away foam form to separate the coping from a poured deck. This may last a short time but it needs to be replaced before it deteriorates and starts letting water penetrate. Scott...See Morewomanowned
