Executive versus Plain and Fancy Cabinet
Comments (16)Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience, Tortoise. During the course of a kitchen reno, many of us end up having at least one really bad experience with a well -known product, vendor, contractor, KD, etc. that is not typical of most customers. (Trust me, I've my had mine). That said, I've had Plain and Fancy painted maple cabinetry installed over 4 years now. I got exactly what I asked for. And, when I didn't, it was P&F -- not me, nor the KD, ID or contractor-- who first noticed the mistake. At their own initiative, P&F noticed that they had delivered standard drawer boxes instead of the upgraded ones I had ordered. After informing the KD of the error, they replaced all the drawer boxes and paid the contractor's change order fees for the labor involved in executing the swap. BTW, for those who may now be wondering about P&F finishes, the finish on my cabs is White Dove Enamel, low sheen. It cleans well and IMO doesn't look "plasticky."....See MoreCrystal Cabinet pricing vs Plain and Fancy
Comments (6)I am a kitchen designer who uses Crystal quite a lot. They have a door called Gentry in both of their frameless series - Encore(lower price) and Quest (total custom). That door has 3 3/8" stiles and rails rather that the 4" on the Plain and Fancy. The drawer can be 5 pc or solid slab. Crystal, in the Quest program, will do the stile and rail widths in any size from from 2 3/8" to 4" wide at a very reasonable charge, about $3.00 per door list. With stiles as wide as 4" you will definitely want to see your kitchen in accurate elevations. A 12" wide door will look very different than say a 21" wide one. Doors under 12" wide may have to be slab style because the panel would be so narrow. A standard industry design program like 20/20 may not show the doors totally accurately. This could be a very dramatic look if designed with care. You'd be best to find a designer who is willing to take the time to figure out how to get the best fuction using the most consistant door sizes. It can be done but it takes time and creativity to get it right....See MorePlain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry--your experiences
Comments (4)I used them and I was happy with them. They did take the full 16 weeks to be made so that was frustrating but we knew that going in. They arrived with one mistake - the sent us two left end panels for our island instead of a right/left. Im sure they would have made us a new one but but our contractor did a patch with some matched paint and filler and since it was out of the way, I would never know if he didn't tell me about it....See Morechoice of kitchen cabinets
Comments (4)Scroll to the end of this link....it has average price of Omega and Plain & Fancy. Plain & Fancy should be close in price, if anything, maybe less??? I would definitely bring this up to your P&F kitchen designer. Maybe there is a difference in what was quoted. I think they are both beautiful cabinet lines. I have never seen an Omega kitchen before....but assume it's very similar to P&F in quality. I carry P&F and Love them. If you know for sure that is apples to apples...then go with Omega. But talk to the P&F dealer first. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/kitchbath/msg0510522118911.html...See Moremarthavila
