Low Deck, Composites vs. S.American Hardwood?

Hello ...

I am building a low to the ground deck; beams completely buried, 2x8 joists that are at most spots touching the ground, rim joist is also touching the ground on one side.

Drainage is complicated by extensive surface roots from 2 very large maples (was not fun digging the posts for this thing ...) but I'm doing what I can to grade.

I originally was planning on a composite, but after reading about mold issues am steering clear. I'm guessing I'm creating a small petri dish under this deck and don't think composites would work.

Am now thinking Tigerwood (1st choice based on aesthetics) or another S.American hardwood, but was wondering how it will hold up in this situation. Any thoughts? Is there one hardwood particularly better suited to avoid mold?

Should I seal the underside before laying the decking? 4" over 6" decking for better ventilation? Pour gravel between the joists to aid in drainage?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
