What's for dinner Thursday?

We have been slugs all day long. Guess 8 days of company can do that to you. We enjoyed it, but....

Tonight we're having clam chowder and smoked mullet spread. We bought it at the Freezer in Homosassa when we went. I had to doctor up the mullet, so I hope it's better. It was pretty blah.

Tomorrow's a cook day for me--bought a turkey breast that's finally thawed.

One and only time I ever had smoked mullet was at this now well known place on the causeway around Tampa/Clearwater.

Been so long, but I remember son absolutely loved the smoked mullet

Loui's and it will be my last time for a while.

Always get the greek baked snapper and today and last time it was undercooked and had to return.

Third time is NOT a charm.

DH had the fun day today. He had a luncheon to go to. I was going to do so much today but wound up doing very little. DH is not wanting dinner so I will just have a salad and maybe throw on some chicken or shrimp for protein. I did make several salad dressings today.

Sorry to hear about your lunch today, Glenda. That's so disappointing.

Old Fixer, I find that the weeds are terrible to pull when the soil is bone dry. I usually leave the root in the soil. :( Fun, I smiled when I read what your dinner was. Did you pop it on the stove, or microwave? We had chili from the freezer. I like mine over rice with a dollop of yogurt to tame the heat.

Lots of variety for dinner this evening! Shirley, I love days that have no interruptions. Even days that I plan to stay home and get caught up on things, there are usually reasons to head out or someone comes over. Stuffed peppers sure sound good! Pam a BLT is good anytime. That's usually what hubby orders when we go out for breakfast (he doesn't do eggs) Angela we had corn on the cob on the weekend and nuked it with the husks on. Have you tried that? OF we were in a store today and the Halloween stuff was out along with back-to-school supplies. Rhizo, I love the sound of your dinner every time you have that! B.e. peas I doubt I would like but that would be easy to leave out. I remember you said once it was a mix that you buy. Phyllis, eating frozen grapes made me smile, then I saw the radish sandwich. I feel sorry for you LOL. Maybe we should all send you a bit of our dinners, and you'd have a feast! KIttiemom, everytime I see you having shrimp scampi I want it. But we never buy shrimp. I'm going to have to just buy a bag of frozen ones once and for all and make it. :)

Soft foods...yuck!!! I had sinus surgery last Friday and still can't do any chewing for another week. I am sick of yogurt, broth, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, etc... My dream meal for tonight is a crusty sourdough baguette slice topped with olive tapenade. My entree will be a steak with sautÃÂ©ed mushrooms and a ceasar salad and more crusty bread! A big peanut butter cookie for dessert!

Same as yesterday -- Various snacks, cheeses, hors d'oeuvres, mini sandwiches, chocolate-dipped fruits, and brownies at a Christmas party. Yesterday was a retirement party for the head of the University Library where I work, today was a shindig put on by a large realty firm at which friends of ours work.

Finally got to see the 24 hour delayed FBI news conference. I'm glad I tuned in just at the right time today. I don't like the chopped up versions the news people give you afterwards.

I made salmon patties today. Had one with a side of potato salad and steamed vegetables. I really like the Normandy blend.

For supper we had a ham steak & baked potato. Still hot here but they say bad storms tonight with high winds. We had the winds all day, just can't wait to see how bad they will be overnight.

Patti, 8 days of company is certainly exhausting. We just had pizza. I am watching the evening news. What a sad week for America with the Boston bombing and the Texas explosion.

We had pea soup that I made using the ham bone from Easter dinner. Most recipes call for split peas, but I used whole dried peas because I like the texture. Went to a local French bakery for dinner rolls to go with the soup, and DH picked up some dessert.

Never had mullet. It's a fish, not a grain?

DH is eating leftover fried chicken thighs, mashed potatoes and gravy. I cooked corned beef in the crock pot, with a green salad for myself.

Tuesday and Thursdays nights are hectic days for us. DD#1 has soccer practice and DH is asst coach. So, leftover stuff here. Kids had chicken nuggets, oranges and apple slices. DH had chicken noodle soup and I made a steak/pepper sandwich. Nice to clean out the fridge.

So Glenda, I have to ask. I know you rotate around to different places, but do you get tired of eating lunch out each day?
