We installed natural Lyptus about 10 years ago. We have been very happy with the look and durability of it. I will try to attach a picture I took this morning. There’s a lot of variability in the wood, which we like in our older farm house. We installed it after our kids were grown and out on their own so no wear and tear from them however our dog has put some dings in it as he has gotten older. Overall it has held up very well and we are still happy with our decision. I don’t know another person who has it as flooring and I wonder why it hasn’t been more popular.

The slab has to be flat, not so much level. Don't confuse or mix the two terms, they mean different things. 1/8" in 6' or 3/16" in 10' are the universal specs, unless the manufacturer speces different. Their is only one urethane adhesive manufacturer, that markets one of their adhesives as a moisture barrier in one application, and if you read the specs, it is only good to 8-lbs. That is Stauf: 960 Use a moisture blocker from the adhesive manufacturer you choose. If you go with Mapei 980, or 990 adhesive, use the Mapei WFM PlaniSeal moisture blocker. If you go with Bostik's adhesive, use their MVP4 moisture blocker. Do not use a concrete sealer!! The adhesives will tell you to remove it, as it is a bond breaker.

The Janka Hardness Rating is 1550 it says per the Lyptus Manufacturer so it is harder than oak but not as hard as Amendoim, Brazilian Cherry or Santos Mahogany. This post says it is a photosensitive wood so that means it will darken with light and age. From pictures from someone on this list for the Engineered Lyptus Fire and from bringing the sample home from the store, it appears that the fire color is what I like as well as the Brazilian Cherry. The Wheat color is beautiful but due to my fluorescent lighting in my home office, the Wheat stain appears a bright light orange so that is not good for my office. I thought I made up my mind on what I was getting on my floor but then I changed my mind and I must get this decision over with. I actually like some of the glossy laminates but after having big samples on the floor and walking on them, I know I will be cleaning the smudges from frequent visitors in my home office. Hence, I do not want an floor with a higher than semi-gloss finish. So now I am unsure if I should pay more for the softer Lyptus Fire Engineered beautiful stained floor (so may not get too much darker and the color change under my furniture may not be so much of a difference if I move one day) or pay less for the harder Brazilian Cherry color that love and deal with the color change under the floor. I think the only company that offers a Strand Woven Lock and Fold is Teragren. I have samples of this stuff and it is *very* impressive. It is also *very* expensive. This is meant for the DIYÂer. If you are paying an installer  you might as well choose a less expensive product and either glue or float it. Floating over concrete is often preferred because you can install a moisture barrier between the concrete floor and your wood  which is usually necessary. Some say they donÂt like the "feel" of walking on a floating floor, but from what I have read, if you use a high quality underlayment such as "Floor Muffler", this should not be a problem. I hope you get more responses as I am *not* a pro about this stuff. :-)
