Question for the SoCal Owner Builders

I was just quoted by a pool builder/renovator over $27k to remodel my 1960 18 x 36 rect. pool. The remodel would include: 1) new plaster, tile, and basic brick coping, 2)new pump, 60sf DE filter, skimmer, new larger suction and return lines, 3)new to code pool light, 125' electrical run, 4)baja step in shallow end, remove decking and repour 800sf plain grey concrete decking. I know most of you are start from scratch builders, but from your experience could this renovation be subbed out and cost less, or get more(pebbletec, pavers, better coping, better equipment, etc) for the same money? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
