Are You Thinking About Supper?

I am not really thinking about it. When I do get hungry I think I will have a pot roast sandwich on a bun with mustard and some more iced tea. I don't have to fix anything this evening. I am glad as I have been sorting and moving things about in my sewing room. I have some things for a future rummage sale too. I still have to organize some patterns that have just been laying about. What have you all been doing today and are you planning to fix supper?

Spent much of the day at Dr's, taking a stress test.

For dinner? Going to the local diner, probably will get my usual - Eggs Benedict. The cook there really knows how to make them.

I spent the day rotating between weeding the garden and sitting out with the dogs. I did take them for a short walk. Tonight we're having meatloaf.

Same here with the frustration and depression to be moved in but not really "finished". And knowing that will actually take years since we did all the work ourselves and I'm totally burned out. And yet I've been doing this for a year now and I struggle to turn the "builder's brain" off. That being said, the SO proposed this spring when we moved in, so I've swapped "builder's brain" for "marriage planning" and suddenly I have a whole new hobby to keep me busy. I of course, feared that I was replacing one obsession with another and post-wedding would likely find myself doubly-depressed...only to realize that we're gung-ho to start our family so we're pretty much going to never stop and just be bored again in our lives. Which is kinda terrifying too.

Nice house with potential. It's been added onto at least once, looks like twice. Are the kitchen and bath in the newest parts? Second the idea of retaining the trees for awhile, thinking you may keep them, because they 'are' period authentic. I live in an 1820s federal and there was also a very tall one directly in front of our bedroom window, past the second story. In it sat mockingbirds the first night I slept in this house. Since this house has been around so long, all the other oldsters in our rural area have memories about it, and many have shared, including pictures. There in one picture of a Civil war soldier about to leave for battle, was the tree. And several others still standing on our property. It finally came down in a storm a couple years ago, and I felt like a piece of history went with it.

My kids, my dogs, my garden, friends, WWIII, retirement, and work. PIcking up a lot of overtime in the next few weeks as we are short staffed and going to get shorter as I know of two others who are retiring this year. They're hiring quite a few people for the uptick in calls since Covid 19 started but they will take months to get hired and trained. Will be busy with work, seed starting and putting together new raised beds that are on the way. I'm also debating on whether or not to take my upcoming 2 weeks of vacation or just 1 of them to work in the garden or go to Florida with a friend. She wants to go to the Keys, it's on her bucket list and although I'm not a beach person I would like to see it and the wildlife.

Seems like I've been on the phone most of the day, either making appointments, changing reservations or talking to people. Oh, and finding out how much a new battery would be for Harry's scooter.

Dinner tonight is leftover from last night. A few weeks ago Glenda posted a recipe and picture of a dish she'd made with sauteed cabbage and sausage. I had made that and it was good and yesterday I found a bag of cooked corned beef in the freezer, so I decided to make something similar. I cooked some red potatoes with the skins, diced them and sauteed the beef, onion, napa cabbage and potatoes in olive oil. So simple and so good!

Joel's for dinner for lunch per usual.

Meat loaf, spinach casserole, squash croquette.

I have been still working on the spring clean. Going through clothes for goodwill and such. Lots of laundry and some ebay junk. Finally got some pictures done anyway.

Dinner is steak. Started the marinade last night so they are ready to go on the grill now. I also made an Artichoke Rice Salad and will do some asparagus shortly. I have been thinking about supper all day!

I had planned and prepped steak, baked potatoes, carrots and asparagus, went to start the burners, and bbq, only to discover that the local construction cut off the gas. So, we had nuked soup and crackers.

DH got home early today from work so he's got some ribs cooking in the outdoor smoker and some baked beans going in the oven. (I know about the baked beans because he asked me how to make them.) Whatever else he's planned, I don't know, I'm just happy to get a weekday treat and a night off from kitchen duty.

Been a busy bee myself today. Fixed the fridge, remounted the dishwasher to the cabinet, matted and framed some pictures, then hung them. Prepared 2 cement planter boxes for planting. Whew, tired now, but am in the process of making wild rice, pan-fried fish, creamed peas and sliced cantelope for dinner. Bon Appetite.

Breaded baked chicken breasts, baked potato, snap peas. It was good. I'm tired of cooking and wish someone would cook for me.
