In all fairness...I'll never get another Yorkie again either. At least not a puppy...I want to see it's matured personality first...no more hyper dogs for me.

They WILL table-surf! And don't feel the least bit guilty about it! The bed is *their* bed and a 15 lb pug takes up 9/10's of it! And the back of the couch is their "watch" station. They know every coming and going in the neighborhood, who is supposed to be here and who is NOT. LOL

I Had bought Conway one of those long beefsticks Saturday. I only gave him half of it, because I didn't want him getting sick from eating too much at once. I went in to wash dishes and came out and he was standing in the middle of the coffee table trying to get the last couple of bites out of the plastic. He didn't even have the wherewithal to look guilty! Just took what was left of his stick and hopped over to the futon and tried to crawl under the covers with it, giving me the evil eye the whole time. Little goofball!

I love Pawle to pieces and think goodness that I can be at home with her 24/7. But, she must be at my side constantly. The biggest social problem is having company and keeping her from annoying Guests. She is persistantly annoying and wants to sit on everyones lap. She is only 2, but very hard to teach good manners.

She is Housebroken finally. She "steals" things off of the coffee table like Cell Phones, Cigerettes & Lighters, Nail Files and a pair of expensive earrings she chewed up. She does it for attention.

She bullys the "boy" dogs that are twice her size. They are scared of her. She just runs at them full force and body blocks them.

Visit a Pug, before you own one.

Take everythng you jst said and apply it to Great Danes that weigh over 150 pounds too.

When Glenda was here visiting almost two months ago she wanted some ice and water in her thermos to drink as she drove home. I waited outside with her while Anna went inside to get it because Luther was in the house. He's friendly as can be but he lacks manners. He likes to jump up and greet people. He outweighs many of them.
He also likes to sneak food off the table. He waits and waits to see if Anna will turn her head.

Another pug parent here ;o) They are high maintenance but the love they give in return is immeasurable. Our pug, Tootie, is a rescue who we got when she was between 7-8 years old. Yes, she's had her "issues", but we'd have another one in a heartbeat. They truly are a wonderful breed.

A friend of my sister was here one day with her pug for about 10 minutes. That's all it took to convince my whole family that we would never want one. That dog exerted more energy in 10 minutes than our Basset Hounds would in a week. This woman works so she has cages that she keeps him in while she's at work. Her daughter got a divorce and said all she wanted was the dog but then moved out and left the dog with her mother.

You can always hear a pug as well. If they aren't snorting they are snoring or rooing or oomphing. Snotting or sneezing or farting or burping. Wheezing, grimmleling, clicking their nails on the floor, thumping around in circles as they rub their butt on the floor (we call this "sit and spin").

Even when they are doing nothing you can hear them. DH will complain about the dog and I will say "She isn't DOING anything" and he will say "Well, I can hear her breathing!". What can I say? Sometimes her nose whistles ;).

And no matter how clean they are, pugs "smell". Ruby smells sort of like warm fritos. On bad days she smells like fritos and a lightly worn sock. And on STINKY days she smells like fritos, socks, and an old washcloth. That is assuming she hasn't gotten into anything of course LOL.

Awww, but those stinky little faces love to come in your face for a big kiss. My Affenpinscher, Sammie, grooms Pawle's stinky little face daily. She loves it. I take her to the bathroom counter and wash her little face very often too. QTips help clean little wrinkles.

fil and aunt both had litter mates...no thanks! adorabel at time but so prone to skin problems in those little folds...caot them a ton, plus fil really shouldn't any dog he couldn't dominate...(not mis-treat, but not a good trainer) sorry to say i can't stand my fur-grand yorkies either! in small doses is plenty!

Our pug "Snuggles" was the best dog...she was well behaved but oh so high maintanence. We had her for 9 years and it was a sad day when she was put down.

She loved people, but knew her limits! I did the "sht" long before the Dog Whisper came along!

She loved friut...especially watermelon and cantalope. She knew exactly how long it took for hard boiled eggs to be perfect! She would stand at my feet as I peeled the eggs just "talking away" knowing she would get 2 chopped up in her bowl!

We tried breeding her; that was a costly mistake to the tune of $1500.00...she lost the puppies and infection set in...ended up doing a hysterectomy (fancy word for neuter).
She was very mellow and got fat...she had allergies and I gave her Benadryl. Other than her treats she ate only "hard" food which kept her snoring and snorting to a sound that was easy to live with!

Gee! I wonder if pugs have any conection to the adjective, "pugnacious"?

I grew up with a beautiful, show quality Pekingese which is basically a long-haired, short-legged pug. He was noisy with all his snoring and snorting. His droppy long-hair ears found every burr in the yard which often caused nasty smelling ear infections. He was ill-tempered and a picky eater. But my fondest memory was learning how to correctly place his eyeball back in his head when it popped out during rough play. Nope, no pug faced pup ever again for me.

I'm a big dog person. Mastiffs are the best behaved,Labs are silly goofballs and Rotties will steal not only your heart but anything within reach. LOL So I have always said that the only small dog I might ever want is a Pug. They are big dogs in a small package.

When we would visit my cousin there was a neighborhood Pug that would come to visit very often. Bobby was probably 4 and was petrified of Harley. Then I figured out it was the noise of Harley breathing that scared him. I told Bobby that Harley was a Darth Vader dog because his breathing sounded just like the character in Star Wars. Bobby was a big Star Wars fan and thought that was cool. He was never afraid of him after that.

I'd love a Pug! My friend raises them,hers are all well behaved.But I have enough dogs right now.....I have a Min Pin,they are also "big dogs in a little body" LOL! Min Pins have a reputation too...but Mic is the best tempered,well behaved Min Pin I've ever seen(even the vets say so)I'm a firm believer in the opinion that a dog is what you raise them to be.You gotta be smarter than the dog or you're a goner! LOL! My sister has JR's...which are also an ACTIVE breed but her two are two of the nicest dogs.Well-behaved and listen to her extremely well....they get "time-outs" or she counts 1...2...by 3 they know to listen or get time-outs....so funny!

I agree....any dog can be well behaved or totally uncontrollable/ficious.....it is HOW they are raised, doesn't matter if they are a mutt or a pedigree! Big or small.....I have encountered a Poodle that was a "heel niper" to women in heels, a German Pointer that didn't like "loud cars"......so again, it's all in the training!

We now have a Bull Mastif/Pit Bull breed...she is a good dog, nothing like her breeds reflect! She is overly friendly, just takes a gentle knee to her chest and she settles down until you show or she brings her ball out! Lord have mercy on you both!!! She is such a baby, so gentle and loving (would I let her around supervised children as well as adults....YES!) She does NOT think she is a dog! She weighs well over 80 pounds and still thinks she needs to sit in my lap when the wind is blowing and it is thundering and lightening!!! If it is raining, no way is she going outside!

I have been around several fullblood Pitbulls...and they have been NOTHING like what everyone "thinks"....AGAIN, it is ALL in the raising and training!!!!!!!!
