What color for the walls?

I received a true blessing this week. I was at the mall with a friend and truly drooled over this bedding set. The next day she went and bought it for me. My husband is very sick and she told me that I deserved it and that I had always did things for her. I was overwhelmed. I am looking forward to getting rid of that dark brown bedding that I have shown you guys before. I hope to got to Sherwin Williams this weekend to purchase paint but have no idea what color to paint the room. My home is pretty much fall colors. The walls are currently SW Empire Gold and the adjacent living room is SW Blonde.

This pic doesn't do the bedding justice.

The picture on the bedding pack shows it with gold accessories and it looks great. I am hoping to accent it with a little silver and gold. (Silver is in the bedding and gold to go with items I have in the room already including lamps.)

All advice appreciated!

Could you post pics of your room now? Furniture, etc. I really love the look of that dark brown headboard. I once had a dark red bedroom & it was like a coccoon - I loved it.

@Katie B. we put a large piece of black paper there to get an idea, but it was too severe. We also will be mounting a flat screen TV in the space as well. So if not black, which one?

Gina: not offhand. You can get some small paint bottles to sample the creams to see how they look in your bathroom. Please post pictures when your project is completed❣️

What color creamy/white wall paint with Simply White BM cabinets?

Simply White in flat looks a little different than Simply White in semi-gloss. Are your cabinets semi-gloss or eggshell/satin? The difference in sheen changes our perception of the color. My point being you could just paint the walls Simply White and there will be some contrast. If you want more contrast, look at Floral White OC-29 and Soft Chamois OC-13. Soft Chamois for me is a little too bright in a south facing room but brightens up rooms with different exposures. As with all paint, the only way you're going to know what is going to work in your space is to sample.

Honestly, I think it's not working for the space turned either direction. The size is awkward. But the bigger issue is that the pattern is so bold that it's dictating what you could put on the walls. I realize you said your budget is tight, so I do apologize for the suggestion. I bought this mat from home depot for only $18, and I love it. It looks kind of plain on the website but I love it because it has a minimal look, almost scandi -- it looks like grey wool and has a subtle stripe texture. It has held up to five years worth of wet shoes, sap and pine needles and still looks new. A simpler rug will free you up to put anything you want on the wall. Go big! You mentioned that you are the one making the textile artwork. A wood dowel from home depot will only be about $5, and you can create something big enough to fill the space.

That bedding is beautiful! As an alternative to grey or gold, you could go peach or apricot on the wals. The combination of red and peach is unexpected and quite lovely.

Is your husband expected to recover?

Would you consider white walls maybe a charcoal accent wall behind bed? Nice colors on the bedding - love that combination of colors!

I would do a neutral... grey taupe. That would work with both silver and gold (not a brassy gold but the new gold that is out now). Hope you post a picture when it is done.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I dont like my bedding to drive the color of my bedroom. I change bedding (like a new duvet set) every 8 months or so, but I would not be able to keep up on the wall colors at that rate. My suggestion - Go with a color for the walls that goes in general with the kind of colors you are attracted to in general.

I am not one to give color advice being color challenged myself. Just wanted to say you have a wonderful friend. And she obviously thinks the same of you. Such a blessing to have people in our lives who care for us when times are tough. I hope your husband's health improves.

Alicia - how fortunate that you have such a dear friend! Thanks to her for taking care of you through what I'm sure is a trying time for you. Your DH is in thoughts and prayers.

I've thought about a color all morning and I am also leaning towards a grey w/ blue in it.

Thank you all so much for your kind words! My husband has a severe case of RA along with a condition where his own body attacks his muscles. He has a lot of pain which leads to a great deal of depression. Our dark bedroom just makes me not want to be in there.

As far as the colors, I am amazed at the suggestions and wondered if the colors were appearing a little different than I see them. IRL it looks like a true cream and a red that is just somewhat darker than a Christmas Red. I would never have thought of a peach or a blue. I guess I have always been a matchy matchy kind of person but would love to step it up but just can't picture it!

I hope to move the bed which has no headboard under a double window so that there is room for both nightstands. There is blinds that are like a woven ratton look.

Alicia, it speaks volumes about yourself that your friend would do this for you. :) Best of luck towards your husband.

I'm leaning on the cream/white side. Not only would it brighten the bedroom, but there are so many colors of cream and white to choose from, and it would really highlight your new bedding.

I also like the peach idea. It does go well with red, I used to have it in my old living room.

You have good taste in bedding!
