I have heard that everyone has a "twin". I had one many years ago, but never was able to develop the friendship--for certain reasons.

Yes, yes, yes! Not so much lately as when I was younger. I got mistaken for other people constantly. Once, one of my doppelgangers was on the front page of the Sunday paper (just one of those pictures of someone in the park on a nice day - not in the news). Even I could see that I looked a lot like her.

My parents spotted 'me' in a casino once. Even my parents get fooled!

They say, everyone has a twin, somewhere....This has happened to me several times which I think is also strange....Years ago I was working with a doctor and he came to work and asked how I had enjoyed the play the night before...I guess I looked at him strange and then he told me...He and his wife attended a play in Pgh. and was sure I was there with another fellow???...He said, he didn't want to embarrass me, so they didn't come over to talk....I think he felt much better when I told him I was home with DH and not out with another fellow.....

Yes, this happened to me many years ago and I knew the person they were talking about and we lived in the same suburb outside of the city I happened to be in.

All the time, or at least something similar. When I'm introduced to someone, I very frequently am told by that person that they've met me before. Once in a great while it's true, but mostly not. Happens all the time! Sometimes they even tell me where they've met me, but I've never been there. Of course, it's not my name that they're thinking they remember, but my face. So, if I do, indeed, have a twin out there, she sure gets around!

I had a twin in college. People would smile and say "hi" all the time. I never got to meet her.

I must have a twin that is a nurse. Several people have stopped me thinking I was her. I haven't got that lately though - so maybe once of us has changed our looks? lol

When I was a teenager many MANY years ago, I had a twin driving around in town, and getting into a lot of situations I would never have been in. I never saw her, never met her, but sure heard a lot about her! There were many embarassing situations when I had to insist to some guy I'd never seen before that indeed I had NEVER seen him before! Thank heavens she drove an entirely different make and model car, or I would never have been believed.

My husband has worked at Walmart about 10 years and I bet he's had at least 50 people think he is a former teacher that taught in a nearby school. There was even a time before he worked at Walmart that we remembered a waitress coming to our table and called him by this teachers name.

When I was younger several people at different times called me Carol. Once I asked a person why, he said, "you look like a Carol."

Went to funeral, and cousin thought I was my sister.

Yes! Being a redhead kind of narrows the chances, I think. The time I remember the most I was young and this very nice looking man asked me to dance. Once we were on the floor he's telling me how good it was to see me again! He just didn't believe I wasn't who he thought I was.

Years ago I had an occasion that I needed to be at a business function that required me to drive several hours each way. I took a girlfriend along for company. We left very early, got home very late.
A couple days later my ex DH acting very strange, asked if I had indeed gone where I said I went. A male friend of ours mentioned that he saw me that day in Ocean City NJ. He never did tell me who I was supposedly "with". But I most assuredly was not in Ocean City!

I was in the grocery store several years ago when a 5 or 6 year old boy started yelling Mom, there is Martha Stewart. I looked at him to see who he was talking about and he was pointing at me. An older man standing near said no she is too short to be Martha.

I'd sure follow up to find find out WHO they are talking about -- name, address, place of work, whatever! And go find the person. You may not be immediate 'family', but I bet if you compare geneaolgies you'd discover you are related.

My DH has a 'twin' -- the daughter his birthparents had together within their marriage after placing him for adoption. They are male and female versions of the same person.

One time in my younger days, I was walking down the sidewalk and was passing a parked car. In that car was a young couple and a prattling baby. The man was in the driver's seat and the young woman was holding the child with her window open. Just as I pass by, the baby looking out the side window, brightens, and loudly coos, "Daddy, Daddy" in my direction. I was embarrased and kept walking, but I couldn't help notice the man looking at his wife, and then at me.

These people were complete stangers to me, and I never learned what the outcome was - It could have been interesting.
