My granite was installed this past Thursday. Here is a photo (I hope):

This is the granite with my new Franke Orca undermount sink. I'm really loving the granite and sink!

We decided to keep our old cabinets since they are decent and in very good shape -- even though I'm not that wild about the oak graining. The hardware will be switched out.

We are happy with the Mirage Golden Red Oak (solid, pre-finished) flooring that was installed in our kitchen and adjoining family room. Right now, we are in the middle of getting the new stainless appliances installed.

Beautiful granite, beautifullllllllllll sink. You should be thrilled! That sink is breathtaking. honestly.

LOVE that granite so much...I picked it too! :) I have white cabinets and I just fell in love with the color. I'm going all the way up with it for backsplash and I have a small kitchen so we need to go light. THey have a giallo ornamental lighter grays and darker browns. I went with the lighter. ANway, your cabinet looks great with the color. I think it's a good choice! Can't wait to see pics of the finished counters.

Most Giallo Ven now days is resined at the finishing plant, which helps to provide a limited measure of protection on the surface. Sealing - in addition to the resining process - helps to extend the stain RESISTANT quality of the stone, and this is why many folks that have this process done to their stone - will tell you that they can go up to 7 years between coats of sealer, and this is what has prolly taken place in Niffy's situation. Niffy - Your Fabricator probably sealed all of your tops in his shop before he brought them out to install (NOT trying to sound "self promoting" here but, we do this too, as it makes our overall process more efficient for my company) at install, we re-seal over seams, and/or any area we have to surface polish, etc... After having done this gig for a living (Stone Fabrication) since 1985, this is what I've seen over the last 26 years......... Get a coat of good sealer on your stone, and then wipe up spills and stains AS THEY OCCUR (not 12 to 24 hours later...HA HA) and you'll be fine !!! HTH kevin

Hi Nursetammi, I went to check out some granite slabs on Friday and decided on the New Venetian Gold. I loved the slabs. It has lots of garnet specks in it which looks good with my cabinets. It also has black in it to tie in with the black island I'm going to get made. It was very confusing because they didn't have Giallo Napoleon and the New Venetian Gold sample that I received from another granite place looked nothing like the New Venetian Gold that I picked out. I would have thought maybe it could have passed for Santa Cecilia, but they had that color there and it wasn't the same as the sample that I received either. I'm glad I wasn't set on one color. Lesson learned is that the color you pick might not be the color you think it is at the warehouse. The guy at the warehouse showed me some other New Venetian Gold slabs that were from a different lot than the one that I picked and it looked way different. It wasn't as gold and it had more grey. Anyway, I'm probably about a month away from getting my granite because the kitchen island is currently being made. I will post pictures when I'm done. Please post pictures of your project when you are done -- I'd love to see it. Good luck!

I had the exact same problem when my granite was installed. It felt so gritty on the surface. I ran my hand over it and was expecting to feel all smooth and wonderful and it was awful, full of grit. I also noticed that water did not bead up. Here is what I did after researching what to do. I got some steel wool and went around the whole kitchen with it polishing in a circular motion. Then I wiped the counters again using a cleaner/sealer countertop product. I always use this now. It helped tremendously but I still had what seemed like little pepper like things on the surface. I was told that lighter stones will shed a bit. Wrong answer. I had no idea about that. After being freaked out for about 2 or 3 months I'm fine with it now. The more you use it the less it will feel like that. It will eventually be smooth but the granite I have is very soft and full of all sorts of mica, quartz and other minerals that I'm told is my problem. I've been disappointed in the surface of it as I expected it to be completely smooth like the granite is in my master bath and laundry room but they are both dark colors. Try the steel wool, it won't hurt it at all since it's soft and it helps remove the granite dust from fabrication. Do it before they come to reseal.

Thanks! I really do love the sink. Here's a picture of it with the sink protector and half-shelf plus the faucet, Insta-hot and soap dispenser. I chose debated between divided sink or one big one. This is the best of both worlds with the unusual shape and divider shelf.

I like the sink and faucet.
I am looking to buy Kohler Forte SS faucet.
Does this one have stainless pullout part,
or it is fake-plastic just looking like SS?

Oh, I LOVE that sink!!! I am going to have to look for one like that. The granite is perfect too...almost exactly what I am looking for to go with my dark oak cabinets. Can I just steal your whole kitchen please?? LOL!
