Also a reveal of which vanity we chose after all your helpful votes and comments. : )

We're missing a ton of stuff (even lights), but here's a sneak peek of our master bathroom. We're missing trim paint, vent covers, ceiling paint, etc, etc.

We're off to search for a mirror tomorrow and then the electrician comes next week and we should have some light!

Anyway, without further ado, here it is so far:

Wow, that's amazing. I LOVE your tile, and the lines on that tub fit in perfectly! Great choice with that vanity.

My stove will be placed better tomorrow and hopefully, hooked up! I will take some pix but she is a little shy because she needs a really good cleaning and polishing effort. She had been waiting in our garage for 4 years and it shows. This is how she looked in her previous home: Our counters give a marble type vibe, but no one will be fooled in person. Our kitchen look is supposed to be unassuming and modest, so I think that this may actually achieve our look better than marble. Don't get me wrong, I love marble and used it in our master bath. It is one of my fave parts of the reno. I can post a sneak peek at that, but the sink/toilet/faucet will be installed tomorrow too. The floor was missing a tile, the hardware has changed and the walls have been painted, but this is the basic look:

Kat - I'll look forward to seeing your other photos! Lisa - thanks, I'm sure a coffered ceiling would look great in your house! I think it can be tailored for a particular space depending on how formal or informal you want it to look. I have to give the credit for the ceiling to our architect since he suggested it and I'll admit that I wasn't so sure about it at first. Our house is around 70 years old, so I was a bit worried about how it would look, but I think it fits in with the rest of the house pretty well. Honestly, I wasn't sure about it though until it was completely done and painted and then I loved it! Eliz - thanks! Hope you are enjoying your beautiful kitchen. I can identify with your comment about your basement being the "dungeon" - I am beginning to wonder if ours will ever be clean or usable again! I think we may just have to section it off with the yellow tape you see at crime scenes and just forget it exists - haha :) Right now, there isn't even a foundation in part of it, just red dirt, due to being torn out for plumbing! It's horrible! Hostagrams - I love the gray and would use a version of it in every room if not for my husband objecting! He thinks there needs to be more color, regardless of whether the colors look good together! Wow - I can't believe you have been taking care of that many hostas for a year - I wish I enjoyed gardening more. Good luck with your move into the new house - I hope everything is done for the deadline of May 1st!

Followup question: In my quest to lighten up the LR I've long planned on inserting a panel of lightly aged mirror over the fpl. But the GC and the glass guys were very very slow to get around to quoting it. They finally have. In the interim, the surround is almost done (need grout, and also darkening the marble a tad with coffee). I have begun to feel that if I have it light below, and a light above, it will leave the woodwork in relief, and look like a big brown "H": KWIM? I think I shouldn't bother with the mirror at all. Note; painting is for somewhere else. Also note: bought an "off the rack" rug from Pottery Barn, chenille jute style. Happy with it at a 10th the price of a custom one. PS found an old before PPS I traded out the too wimpy lamp for one with more weight, and I really like it. Sorry my only photo is from a distance.

kimiko232 -- I really like the cement tiles too; they are very cool. It remains to be seen if we are cool enough ourselves to pull them off. ha! Those California tiles are beautiful. I thought of diamonds but might just do running bond if I use 4x4's; there are only so many patterns you can do with square tile! One tile place showed alternating horizontal rows of rectangular and square tile, and that looked really nice, though a more modern look. WindyCityLindy -- thank you! The wood countertop is kind of an experiment. :) I figure that at least the bottom course of tiles had better not be too expensive in case we have to change it out in a few years! (not planning to though!) Ellendi -- yes, I wondered the same thing, if it would look less sterile/boring once all our junk was back on the counters. I really like blue and white (our dishes are blue willow); I think my challenge with delft would be to keep it from looking too country with the wood countertops. Otislilly -- one of the tile showrooms had row after row after row of tumbled stone, so your comment made me smile (the sales guy there said the same thing). I think I want to go a little more retro/vintage in this house. Slate could possibly work, I'll have to look. Thanks for weighing in!

So what's the story with the vanity? Did you order from the original company and it actually showed up? I recently saw a post by allison??? of a bathroom with a similar vanity and thought of your bathroom. Either way, I'm glad it worked out!

Your bathroom is looking fabulous. I especially love the wall tile behind your tub. So happy for you after all the remodel nightmares you experienced. Wishing you lots of bubble bath soaking time to make up for all the stress you went through.

Blondelle, the tile is porcelain wannabe. It's called Exedra Calacutta and it's from Artistic Tile.

Natebear/ Allison - it is not the original vanity - I couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't get an answer on when it would be back in stock.
It seems virtually identical though - it's the British Cane vanity from Modern bath. We're pleased with it.

Allison we went with the Kohler Devonshire. I'm not in love with it yet, but hopefully it will grow on me.

Michoumonster - the feature tile is Danse Lucido Vetromarmi collection water jet tile with glass and calcutta marble.

The subways are Pavarotti Pearl all by Artistic Tile.

Hey, what color did you go with? (its covering that pinkish beige that I liked:) This is a beautiful bath and the color you found is a great choice!

We went with the Moonshine 2140-60.
It was so weird because initially it looked blue and just wasn't working, but it kind of 'settled' and by the time DH got home from work it looked totally different. Probably something to with totally drying out and the light changing in the room.

I just hope it doesn't turn blue again when we get lights!! Right now I really like it. It's very peaceful, but not cold.

Gina, our bathroom is really long and thin, like a hallway. It made planning it really difficult.

I can't remember the length off hand, but it's only 6 feet wide. I'll measure length later.

Thanks Hoboken! I thought so, ours is 6x18 and trying to reconfigure it has been very tough!! Yours gives me hope, though.

tinan - the shower is at the other end of the room. Here's a pic taken before the trim and shower heads went on.

Gina Gorden - our bathrooms are exactly the same size! : )
Ours is 6' x 18.3'. We were fortunate with our door placement - we had great space for a huge shower which is lovely.
We had alternate floor plans which might have worked if the window were placed differently, but I think it all worked out!

Hoboken,

Where did you fit the toilet, with the shower on one end and the tub on the other? Does it feel private?

Love, love, love the size of the shower BTW! is it 6x5?

Lol, the toilet does not feel private! It's next to the shower.

We could have relocated it to a closet close by, but it would have been cramped and windowless. We could also have combined the tub and shower and put the toilet up one end or other.

The toilet location was the biggest challenge with the width of the room, but there's a door and we close it while using the toilet, so it doesn't really matter where it is.

If you had a more normal tub you might be able to tuck the toilet between the vanity and tub if you didn't want to see it?

We bought the best looking 'throne' we could find (Toto SoirÃÂ©e) and it's out there bold and proud! In fact this week it will have a chandelier above it, so far from trying to hide it, it's going to be a feature.

Very impressive bathroom. I wonder what trim around window? Tile or wood? Trim looks like flash with tile. Would love to see finished room.
