PVC Railing Systems

Can anyone recommend a good PVC railing system? Different builders I have talked to have suggested going with Tamko Tam-rail, Veranda and Trade Mark. I am looking for a mid-range system that provides good value, is sturdy and will last. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I'm just now finalizing an Azek deck plan, just trying to figure out my railings as well. Several serious deck pros on another website swear by Timber Tech radiance rail (and specifically warn against TT ornamental rail), even when they are building the deck with Azek or another PVC or composite.

I was thinking to stay with the Azek railings so I only have to deal with one manufacturer if warranty issues arise.
But I found that Azek railings aren't true PVC, but composite, as Azek purchased Composatron, Trademark and Premier railing manufacturers. It is hard to get price info on the Azek railings but my one source shows the kits seem to go for between $240-$300 depending on the length/height. I haven't seen firm pricing on TT radiance rail, but saw a thread where someone who priced at a lumber yard said a 6ft section was about $400 all in.

You know - I have a rental (live in 1 apt and rent out the rest). Your making the place look good makes the neighborhood look good... which increases the desireability of your units. I could go on about other reasons why its to your benefit to put some extra care, love and $$$ into your project. Not go hog wild, but not to be super tightwad either. On to my comments re: the topic. I think the poplar will be just fine if are vigilant about keeping it painted - Ive used it for some of my exterior porch repair for much the same reason. Before you assemble the pieces seal the end grains. Part of your routine as landlord should be to regularly inspect your paint/caulking around the porch (and that bathtub that you m entioned in another thread) Cedar isnt the only rot resistant wood - and its only rot resistant, not rot proof so it still needs to be maintained. Cypress and green treated pine may be more more affordable options. This is more a question than a statement - I bought some cedar 1 inch boards for something and I was shocked at how light weight and splintery it was - and really soft. I was expecting something heavy and dense like the original old growth cedar of my porch posts. Is this typical of modern cedar.... or are there different types, or what? If this is typical, OP indeed might be better off with the poplar - which would be denser & not as soft & porous. Again this is more of a question than a statement.

you need to work with a pro who has a little creativity because your objections really shouldn't be a big deal. To keep the p/t lumber from being visible, use a stainless steel grommet in the ipe post trim with a hole bigger than the one holding the cable in the p/t post. for the cap rail, do a metal cap rail to meet code, then router a channel in the ipe and mount it to that. Done. It'll take a little bit of design time to ensure that all your proportions are right and everything ties together appropriately and structurally, but there are definitely ways to get the look you want while satisfying the permit store. Obviously not dimensionally accurate or really thought through in terms of attachments, but here's the gist.

i cant believe these prices!!!!!!!

i to am trying to figure out what railing to go with......

azek just doesnt do it for me
timber tech seems good
i like Monarch rails ,they look the nicest but havent seen any pricing yet

i havent seen a all pvc railing ??who makes em??

heck im not even 100% on which decking to go with yet???
i finally got it all framed and hope to decide in the next week or so...:(

im a stainless pipefitter/welder by trade and may just make my own railings..;)
