Hi Mary! I want to grow them for the butterflies too! I've read that you can use ethanol cider (?) to soak them, on a heat mat. The website is easywildflowers.com, go into butterfly host plants, then into passion flower. I have no idea what ethanol cider is; checked online-very vague discriptions. anybody know; it's probably going to be something very simple like pure apple juice! I too have read that they can take up to a year to germinate! I'm going to plant mine as soon as I get more soil. Oh, did I mention WS yellow echinacea on my mile long post? Yeah, it's out there!! there is a fern that i used to buy for my house when i didn't have a yard. wish i could find it. can't discribe it except to say that it looks like fingers and doesn't seem that the leaves are evenly spaced, but i can't remember. i think it had a long finger with two side fingers at the top. that is a long time rememberance. in my mind i also think of ET. great to know the deer don't eat ferns. hostas are okay, but i gave most of mine away already. would also love some walking fern after seeing it on the botanical website. when i look for catalogs on ferns they only seem to each have a few.

Those "car lights" theories are mostly nonsense. I haven't seen Marfa's lights (even though I have been out there), but I have seen the Brown Mountain lights of NC, and there is no way to explain them at all. The lights appear from nowhere, and they rise and fall, in altitude against the mountain side, and move sporadically, sometimes slow, sometimes fast and abrubt. This location is in a valley, far from people, and just getting to it, is a chore, as the only access is a forest dirt road. There are still a great many things that science has not as yet found a good explanation for.

Need a nap in the daytime can certainly be a symptom of a sleep disorder. It can also be a "symptom" of old age and less activity. I don't know anyone my age who doesn't say that they often fall asleep at night during the regular Primetime TV shows. Some do have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine, but they still doze off. Others take naps due to health issues that cause fatigue. My late mother had Lupus and had always turned up her nose a her sister who took a daily nap; she found she herself truly had to do so. Some people find a short nap is an energizer, the "executive power nap". There are as many reasons as there are people. Yes, if one sleeps well during the night and feels exhausted the next morning, a sleep study done by a specialist is in order. If one falls asleep early and then wakes up and has insomnia for hours, this should be checked. If one regularly has a drink or two before dinner or wine/beer with a meal and falls asleep afterwards, blame the alcohol and cut back or cut it out altogether. My late FIL had two rum and tonics for decades, each night before dinner. When he reached his mid-80's, he had no trouble going to sleep (and actually went up pretty early) but would awaken in the night and lie awake for hours. His doctor told him to cut back to ONE rum & tonic before bedtime, but he was a stubborn old cuz and said he'd done the same thing for 60 years and was not changing. Oh well... A bit of "sleeping over a good book" or dozing off while watching TV is usually nothing morbid that requires any treatment.
