Flat Roof: Put Torch Down Over Old Metal Roof?
Comments (4)Thanks for the response. The installer is very good, experienced, and will use a board over the installation, so the decking will not catch fire. I am confident that he will do terminations and seams well. My cheif concern is how a torch down (modified bitumen) roof will work in this type of installation where there could be some small puddles forming (about 1/8 inch deep)? Renovator, you are correct that PVC would perform better and last longer. However, it is more than twice the price AND most local roofers don't offer it. For the contractos that do offer it, I have no information on their work quality....See MoreInstalling New Roof Should I put in Skylights or Solatubes?
Comments (4)blyblu, I had Velux skylights put into an addition at my former house and they were perfect for the 25 years I lived there before selling. No leaks. Coastal Washington and lots of rain. Love the house I'm in, but I sure do miss a skylight in my bathroom. Made for exceptionally good light at the vanity....See MoreShould I put cabinets over my fridge?
Comments (6)So as I understand, your new refrigerator isn't panel ready for the front door sections but you want to create a surround for it? I think it is perfectly fine. You should be planning some electrical lighting at various layers of your new design to adequately light your space. Most fridge surrounds do feature an overhead cabinet or open shelf space. However, adding a cabinet up there could significantly impact your budget, so that's a question only you can answer....See MoreShould I put a weathervane on the roof of my home?
Comments (18)What a sweet face on your lab. Go for it and put it up. Your home and property are gorgeous. We built a four car garage and had a cupola (I believe that’s the right word). With a whale weathervane much like the one Beverly has shown. I loved it until a storm took the neighbors cedar tree down and sliced the garage down the middle. We rebuilt the garage and If I wasn’t so old I’d put another one up there....See Morebigkahuna
