Any craft people out there? Purse question.

Do you know where you can get Rolled Leather Straps? Mine broke on my purse and it would be really easy to replace it if I could find it.The purse is one of my favorites and is in excellant shape so don't want to toss it.

I have done an eBay search and Google search and can't seem to find what I am looking for anywhere. I would be interested in any kind of straps. Thanks.

I can't help you but wanted to say I love those straps, they stay on your shoulder. More companies should use them.

Have you tried taking the broken purse to a shoe repair place? They fixed one of mine for about $5 once.

A few years ago I went through a depression, since losing my granddaughter and MIL, within weeks of each other, and although crafting had been a huge part of my life since I was a young child, I decided I had had enough.....packed up all of my stuff, and gave some to my sister, and the rest to the senior center here in town so they could make things for their holiday sales. They use this money to help others in their small community or to go on trips! They loved it! But once I got into my normal way of thinking again, I sure did miss my stash! But, decided to buy only what I neeed for the projects I am doing! Well, needless to say..."THAT" idea didnt last long! I am a fanatic for different fabrics, and ended up looking for some of the fabrics I got rid of, and have built my fabric stash again......but since then I have also gotten into paper crafting....had to have a cricut, a sizzix, a scorpal, cropodile, etc, and naturally my fascination with diffrerent fabrics, has transferred to different papers, still have my fabric collection, and add to it now and again, but I found that papers take up a lot less room and I am more apt to use them. I dont have much time now with my restaurant as I work about 16 hrs a day, so I have to take my stuff with me and when I get a few minutes, I sneak into my office and make stuff for the restaurant. I make my own signs, business cards, decorations for my windows (right now I want to do a huge display for back to school) . I have huge windows, 6 of them at the front of my restaurant, so lotsa room to be creative! And naturally my grandchildren help! So, do what ya gotta do about your stuff, but just remember, you might regret getting rid of some of it, but if so, you can find most of it again somewhere..i got what I really wanted back on Ebay I am about to turn 53, and cant imagine my life without crafts...but dont get into it as much since my sister moved to West Virginia to be closer to her kids, and my best friend moved to New Mexico....they were my inspiration! But I am doing okay by myself!

I think over 50+ years of crafting I have dabbled in just about everything. I have 5 sisters and 1 brother and all have done crafts of some sort all inspired by Mom who at 93 years of age is still making angel ornaments for the family - this year she did those flat beaded ones. They are not as precise as they were years ago but they are loved by all who got one. At one time I had my entire basement devoted to crafts and craft projects and did the craft shows - also had a successful doll clothes business till I lost my husband to cancer and pretty much retreated from the world and got rid of alot of stuff including about 15years of craft magazines. Now I am back to crafting again and encouraging the younger family members to get involved. I am in the process of setting up a room devoted to crafting. I have come full circle and loving it - just wish my Micheals was a little closer but it does save on the pocket book although I have discovered the fun of online shopping - lol ...... Lynne

I was at a grocery store, one of the somewhat pricey ones, and a pear fell to the floor, bounced few times, and rolled to a stop. I picked it up, and handed it to the produce man that was stocking items. He just put it back on the display. I was dumbfounded. Germs aside, that pear was not worth selling after bouncing so many times, but he didn't seem to care. I guess fruits and onions, anything that's stacked, is likely to fall on the floor a few times. And I didn't even think about the germs the pear picked up. Of course, I always wash my produce before eating it, anyway. It never occurred to me we may need to wash our bread wrappers, too. I quit buying commercial bread a long time ago, anyway. When the expiration date is a few weeks in the future, I figure that I don't want to eat whatever they put into the bread that makes it last that long. The preservatives scare me more than the germs on the wrapper. Sally

Well, the dryer is the one not new appliance we came with. It's a six or seven year old Kenmore He4. But it was working fine before we moved which is why we kept it when we had to replace our washer two months prior to moving in the new house!! It just seems strange that it's suddenly taking two cycles at higher heat settings to dry. The icemaker is a different story. When I told the service people about having to turn the TV up and about how the sole reason we close our bedroom door at night to sleep (which is 20-something feet away and separated by two hallway divisions) is because the icemaker running (or draining...not sure what it is) is so loud, they said it shouldn't be doing that. I've been in dozens of houses with icemakers and have never asked someone about the noise because I've never noticed it. In the three weeks we've been in the house every single person that's been in the living room or kitchen when it's kicked on has asked what it was. It's startling and just loud. I'm not happy. I'll ask them about the range fan tomorrow just to be sure. It sounds like its normal though.

Hi Clare, I looked up leather suppliers on Google and didn't have much luck. Tandy leather is still in business and might have what you need. I would look at thrift stores, flea markets, etc. You might find a purse with the straps you need and replace them that way. A shoe repair shop could be helpful. Hope that helps. Linda

Check a shoe repair shop, or a hobby shop.

I had a very good leather purse repaired once at a local shoe repair shop and I couldn't believe what they charged. Maybe because it is CA. I thought a fabric shop might have them and called but none there. I might go to a feed/livestock store and look at leather reins or leashes.

Shoe repair shop! They can fix just about anything to do with leather.They will be able to make a new strap and dye it to match your purse.

A saddle maker braided new handles for my purse after Holly chewed it up. He charged me $15.00
The leather doesn't match exactly but it's close enough for me cause I really like the purse.

I don't know how the straps are attached, but a GF made purses with all kinds of things for a strap. Belts and chain!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

I am also going to hit the thrift shop. Maybe buy another purse for $2 and use the straps, or find unique belt, or who knows. It is a purse made in India that I got a long time ago. I love the painted pictures on it. I have 4 with different pictures. Anyone remember when these were popular? So will fix it somehow.

I use it for awhile then get bored and switch to another old purse to use. I am always changing purses. Good thing I buy most of them at the thrift store. I have 4 boxes of them! DH keeps threatening to take the whole lot to Goodwill! I admit it, I am a purseaholic.
