BTW -- IF you want the loveseat to appear to be more "centered" -- simply add a fluffy plant in a gorgeous pot on the right-hand side to conceal that open area ...... OR perhaps a small table with a plant on top?

Thank you, teacats. :) I have been impressed with Les's apparent knowledge and assume she might be a designer. Am I correct? I need to come here more often, because this is a board filled with some real talent, and nice too. :)

That's a good idea about the plant, but what do you consider a "fluffy" plant, if you don't mind my ignorance.

As for a fluffy plant (and I am SO ignorant of plants :)

I referred to a plant with lots of leaves up and down the plant (as compared to a "tree-like" plant with leaves only at the top ....) Hope this makes some sense .....

Perhaps some herbs in pots might grow on your pretty deck?? Perhaps if you add a table with a larger pot in that corner -- maybe fill it with a bunch of culinary herbs?? (rosemary, thyme, basil etc.) Just a thought!

NP - Must say that I much prefer your original arrangement. That is a beautiful set of furniture and it looks cozier, more conducive to conversation, and just plain more symmetrical in its first configuration. It also avoids the problem of the love seat being offset under the window, which IMO looks odd.

Your set has strong lines and color. It really doesn't need lots of extra decoration on your deck. The fountain on the wall is enough. I would just add some small pots of flowers and perhaps a green plant. Plain terra cotta pots and one or two glazed green ones would look wonderful with your upholstery!

It's so hard to tell without being in the space or moving around/sitting in it. Visually, I prefer the original angled arrangement for the same reasons sable noted. I also wouldn't want to sit so close to the grill, above. The second arrangement does have more room for getting in and out of seating, and without disturbing someone else too much. I wonder if you could pull the two side chairs out a bit more away from the table so it isn't quite so close together.

I moved it back again but tried to put a little more space between pieces so it was easier to get around the furniture. I must say I like it at an angle better. Having the loveseat off center just bugs me. My DH liked it the other way though just fine. Gotta take that umbrella out of there.

Now what do you think? The pics may look a little distorted, but hopefully you can see well enough.

I like it best in the last photo with the love seat angled in the corner. Have you decided about the plant stand? I really love your furniture..is it wicker or is it the faux wicker (resin?) It's so nice!

That looks very inviting to me and not so close together as the other picture of it did. Quite comfy. Adding some plants will really give it that spark of life and dimension. It looks great to me.

Thanks, arizonarose. It is resin. I am thinking of putting it between the two matching chairs in front of the fence rail, but once I get it, I'll figure that out. It's been ordered. I also like the peace lily idea that tgd suggested, and I plan to add some other other plants.

I like the second one, cause I like things on an angle, especially outside. Your furniture is very pretty.
Are in the sun or shade? If you're in the sun do a nice big geranium in a nice pot on the coffee table. If you're in the shade you can do tuberous begonia or impatience.
Surrounding the pot with vinca vine would be nice cause it will grow and cascade over the table.
I think you can fit the plant table between the chair and love seat in the last photo.
Beautiful plant stand BTW, it would look wonderful inside as well.
one more thing, you can hang plant baskets on the wall where the fountain is as well...they have iron hooks that hold the baskets very nicely.

Very nice and inviting, NP. Joann's thought had also occurred to me. Get the table and if it doesn't work on the deck, move it indoors!

Your furniture is so pretty.....but I happen to like the last pic instead of having the seat in front of the windows.....I think it looks better from the inside also.

I prefer the more squared seating that I suggested, in part because then a majority of the seating is facing outward to the view. In the angled seating, the two chairs have their backs to the yard and are facing the house. I think it also gives a more open feeling, and eliminates that 'seats around the campfire' feeling of one seat on each side of the centered table.

However, everyone knows my mantra is "your house, your choice'. You live in the space, and you have to love how things are arranged. If the angled seating works best for you, then that is the way you should use it!

Just wondering, leaving things angled as they are in the last pix, could the square table fit flat against the railing between the two chairs? Or is it too large? That might open up the seating - you could add a side table at the end of the loveseat if needed.
