Executive versus Plain and Fancy Cabinet
Comments (16)Sorry to hear about your disappointing experience, Tortoise. During the course of a kitchen reno, many of us end up having at least one really bad experience with a well -known product, vendor, contractor, KD, etc. that is not typical of most customers. (Trust me, I've my had mine). That said, I've had Plain and Fancy painted maple cabinetry installed over 4 years now. I got exactly what I asked for. And, when I didn't, it was P&F -- not me, nor the KD, ID or contractor-- who first noticed the mistake. At their own initiative, P&F noticed that they had delivered standard drawer boxes instead of the upgraded ones I had ordered. After informing the KD of the error, they replaced all the drawer boxes and paid the contractor's change order fees for the labor involved in executing the swap. BTW, for those who may now be wondering about P&F finishes, the finish on my cabs is White Dove Enamel, low sheen. It cleans well and IMO doesn't look "plasticky."....See MoreCrystal Cabinet pricing vs Plain and Fancy
Comments (6)I am a kitchen designer who uses Crystal quite a lot. They have a door called Gentry in both of their frameless series - Encore(lower price) and Quest (total custom). That door has 3 3/8" stiles and rails rather that the 4" on the Plain and Fancy. The drawer can be 5 pc or solid slab. Crystal, in the Quest program, will do the stile and rail widths in any size from from 2 3/8" to 4" wide at a very reasonable charge, about $3.00 per door list. With stiles as wide as 4" you will definitely want to see your kitchen in accurate elevations. A 12" wide door will look very different than say a 21" wide one. Doors under 12" wide may have to be slab style because the panel would be so narrow. A standard industry design program like 20/20 may not show the doors totally accurately. This could be a very dramatic look if designed with care. You'd be best to find a designer who is willing to take the time to figure out how to get the best fuction using the most consistant door sizes. It can be done but it takes time and creativity to get it right....See MorePlain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry--your experiences
Comments (4)I used them and I was happy with them. They did take the full 16 weeks to be made so that was frustrating but we knew that going in. They arrived with one mistake - the sent us two left end panels for our island instead of a right/left. Im sure they would have made us a new one but but our contractor did a patch with some matched paint and filler and since it was out of the way, I would never know if he didn't tell me about it....See MoreOmega or Plain and Fancy cabs
Comments (19)I'm assuming you understand the difference between Omega and Dynasty? I ask this because if DH didn't like the quote and it was done using only Omega, you could have the same look for less by using Dynasty and then just using Omega for custom pieces (like in Buehl's gorgeous kitchen). I'll post a few pics of my kitchen if you want to see Cherry Autumn from Omega. Mine are all Omega because they're all custom (toe kick drawers etc). I also have deeper lowers (27") and deeper uppers (15"). It's a small kitchen and every inch counted LOL Omega did some great work for me. I don't have a pic of the bench seat yet but it is all built from custom boxes they made for me. They also did some special shallow drawers, toe kicks in every room (some obvious and some hidden) and built a few special pieces like the above fridge cabinet (open with beading) and the chalkboard at the end of my island (it looks like a regular two door cabinet). Many of these pics aren't finished, (since the kitchen isn't quite, but it might help you get a feel for Cherry Autumn. I love the color myself, though I saw it with glaze and it's gorgeous given the different door styles (wouldn't work with mine). I also have cherry wheat with bronze glaze in another room...I'll post a pic of that for you as well: One side of the kitchen: Another...they custom cut the trim for the hood for me My sink run and a bit of the chalk board: Upper cab: Cherry Wheat with Bronze glaze:...See Morenhbaskets
