This sort of thing annoys the heck out of me. They think they are pulling a fast one on us. I especially dislike when they do this to food items, as it messes with my recipes. Remember when canned items were 16 ounces? Now it's 14 ounces. Just leave the size the same and increase the price, please, so that the change doesn't throw off recipes.

Same situation with Zest, so it's probably that way with all of them. Plus the newly shaped bar is very difficult for me to hold onto when it's dry, let alone when it's wet. Just charge me more and leave the size/shape alone.

I went to the website, tried to send a comment (basically what we all agree on here--leave the size alone and just charge more, if absolutely necessary). The Dial website is messed up, comment wouldn't go through. By then I was past annoyed, so I searched out the name and address of the CEO and wrote him a letter. Doubt it will do any good, but he'll be getting one, anyway.

Last night after dishing out some Breyers ice cream, I noticed the carton seemed not as wide (on the shorter side) as I remember it being.

This is just another way they are getting over on the consumer (so they think) by making the sizes a little smaller, yet raising prices.

I've noticed this on alot of grocery store items.

I open our soap and put it in a hanging basket in the bathroom, it not only dries and last longer, but it leaves a nice smell for a bit, too.

This is indeed a timely post. I buy Dial white bars for DH. I purchased some last week and unwrapped them. I store them in a large open-topped glass jar. Anyhoo, I noticed the same, exact thing! The bars were noticeably more "scopped", both on the sides and the back, and the name imprint is much deeper. I mentioned this to DH, telling him that the bars actually feel lighter. He thought I was being a tad anal. I'm going to show him your post tonight.
Grrrrr....I'm planning on writing the company, just so they know that the average consumer is not falling for their bait and switch ploy.

The one that gets me are the bags of chips. You open the bag and it's half full...if that. Cereal is the same way.

Thanks azzalea. I went to the Dial website, tried to call the phone number and got a "sorry you couldn't reach us because were busy learning about our products."..huh?. Then I tried their email link, filling in all the required info, went to send it, and got "the webpage you're looking for has expired."
Great way to do business....harumph.

Companies are so sneaky. I tend to get mad at the post office when they raise their rates so often & their service goes waaay down. I just got back from going there at lunch to mail some Certified letters for the company I work for. Turns out that because some of the letters were in a 9x12 envelope, they charge more than just a business envelope. I couldn't have squashed all this stuff in a business envelope because it would never fit so I had to bring them back to the office for additional postage. Turns out they now charge, depending on weight & size, over $6.00 to send a Certified letter in a 9x12 envelope. If gas weren't so high, I could drive them over & deliver them in person. Just my daily vent.

If you lay the box down flat, and shake back and forth, the cereal will unpack itself. The cereal settles and packs together during shipping. I imagine the chips settle too.

Leslie is absolutely correct about the cereal and chips. The packages even say on them that they are sold by weight, not volume, because of the contents settling.

Individual yogurt cups.

175 grams ... 150 grams ... 125 grams ... 113 grams.

Now some offer 100 grams.

Well ... I guess that they've heard that we eat too much ...

... and get fat.

Just one more example of our public-spirited corporations taking to heart the best interests of their clientele!
