Balcony Door Window Treatment Vote or Opinion
Comments (29)Another thing Squirrel, My bedroom's paint color is not as deep and pretty as your beautiful virtual. The paint color varies. Sometimes it is a happy color and when the sun enters the room with all the blinds open, I like the color then. Other times it is a lemony color that I always wish would be a tad deeper like your picture with a tad less lemon in it. I guess paint colors look different in different lighting and pick up what is around them also. I am learning so much about decorating. The Linen blind color gets more brown in it at night (it is a pretty color in the day time more creamier and not so dark with the ash color in it) and in my mind clashes with the paint color at night so I want the blinds covered at night so despite loving this treatment for the day time, I would want two sheers on each window to be able to open them up during the day time and close them at night and for coverage since one sheer will not cover the duet 3/4 size pleats. Most likely these sheers will have to be semi-sheers for more coverage (that is why I looked at the Sensations Crinkle Sheers and the Emma Lace Sheers since I did not like how the regular sheers I bought home covered my Duet blinds so poorly). The white Emma lace really covered the windows the best but the white was a little bright that maybe is not showing up in the pictures despite how pretty it is. The Sensations has a nice soft white but I still am thinking of putting a lace valence on the door since I love the Emma valence and pattern. But this wonderful picture has given me ideas for my balcony door and that I am so happy about. Thank you....See MoreConverting deck to patio. Opinions?
Comments (5)I see no problem with what you wish to do. Our home is on a large hill. You drive into the lower driveway, and step up to our pressure treated wood pool deck. Below the deck is lattice, but the only thing it blocks is critters from hiding underneath it. You then step up to the next level which is a large concrete patio, even with the bottom floor level of our split level home. Around the corner, you step up again to a wooden deck which has an entrance to the next level of our home, and additional steps up to a deck over the lower driveway. It does have lattice, which I like because it blocks all the junk under that deck. All of our decks have wrought iron railings, and I see yours are wood. I think concrete at the lower level would make you happy and would look nice....See MoreMahogany T&G Porch Deck Treatment
Comments (3)Rebuilt my covered porch last September with t/g mahogany. I ended up using Messmer's UV Plus, with a 10 % additional red stain added to it to give it a slightly red brown color. The final look was exactly what I was looking for. Its now April and the porch looks just as good as when completed (I live in metro NY). We didn't have a horrendous winter though. I was told to expect to reapply once a year. Note Messmers has been criticized for not having enough mildewcide in their product. I used PPro's Restore a deck on the new mahogany first (slightly diluted as the wood really wasn't dirty), waited 2 full days (without walking on it at all), and then applied (while wearing socks so no dirt would get on the wood). I realize it hasn't been much more than 6 months but I haven't had any black spots as of yet. Note TWP was not an option for me as I'm in a green state- I had to travel to CT to get the MEssmers and could not find anyone w/ TWP in that state....See MoreIpe deck stain job with Restore-a-Deck and TWP116 - 1 year later
Comments (41)Jim, I just cant see you diging up really old posts, going on and on about it, with out some type of goal. Exactley what are you trying to prove??? Go to my site, All the ipe projects have 116 on them. As you can see they are not Red or Redwood or anything close to that. Saying it is makes me Mad clear and simple. Now if you put 116 on say preasure treated, garapa or any light color wood then Yes its going to come out a different color than 116 on ipe. This is basic 101 wood finish. Any of the resin base twp products can be mixed together to come up with a different color. I have used combos like that when puting finish on Garapa and other woods. I put cedar tone natural on ipe one time because the Wallet asked for it the result was bad but I did what they wanted however for ipe its most always the 116. Ipe itself is not one color it ranges from almost black to a light tan 116 levals out the differances but the result is not Red. Any color chip you get from Any finish store is going to be different on another kind of wood other than the wood used on the chip you cant expect them to have samples of finish on every kind of product. Just get off it Man. Its up to the Customer to know if one finish is the right one for them. There is no way twp is showing product online / samples / or color chips that dont match up with what they sell. You might not agree with what they call it if so just pick another name for your self and call it that but it Defentley is what they say it is and what they say they sell is what they sell. The JonMon has been a little tense latley after a long term project was real hard on me. This is a mixed site if I could I would edit my last response but O Well. J....See Morepressurepros
