Ours is complicated, photos do not show sufficient detail so I'll try explaining. Electricity - I ran PVC under the pavers, daylighting adjacent to one of the pergola columns. The source is from the sub-panel which also feeds our hot tub but has space for additional breakers. Use wide-turn elbows to permit pulling the wires. Our pergola has two perimeter 2 x 12's to support the roof. On the bottom edge of the outside one, I routed a groove and installed rope lighting. Also have made provisions to install a ceiling fan above the table. All electrical is weather tight, grounded and on its own GFCI breaker. Our speakers are located elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend speaker wires and 110 volt in the same conduit. Our Pergola is about the same size as yours, but free-standing. If you offer more particulars about your build perhaps I can offer better suggestions. Hope this helps.

I would make it two covers. One for the pool and one for the spa. An up and over solution may be possible but I don't see that as being a long lasting cover with snow loads likely to stretch and tear the cover before too long, especially at the spa's spillway. I would also suggest that some eye bolts and a cable be run across the spa wall facing the pool to prevent sagging and scratching. The spa's cover would have long straps to both reach the cable and the deck. The straps will create a bit of a tangle foot condition but is IMHO, a better solution than drilling into the deck side of the spa's outer wall. Looks like a Sylvan pool. Very pretty! I do recommend a Loop Loc brand cover. The eye bolt anchors they use only require a 3/8"x3" hole be drilled in the wall vs. most other's 5/8" wide hole. However, a 1/2" starter hole will be needed between tiles with a tile/glass bit and a standard drill. The 3/8" holes will require a small hammer drill, not something you want hitting tiles. Make sure the installer has done this before. Ask to see verifiable pictures. Regards and Best Wishes

We use our spa several times a week. Not just when we're swimming, but dh and I use it in the late evenings after the kids are in bed. It's kind of like going on vacation without having to leave home. I get aches and pains a lot as well and the spa is my first line of defense. When something hurts, it's the first thing I do. Just about every swim session ends up in the spa as well. Get the spa. You won't regret it. The fact that you were doubting yourself not getting one says that you would always wonder if you went without it. You will enjoy having it. BTW, it IS possible to stay on budget with a lot of planning. We did. Factor in everything you could possibly want, even the "maybes," from the get-go, including landscaping (including any landscaping repairs you need to make from the pool construction in your front yard, such as a new lawn), including any required gating, patio furniture, etc etc. Our original pool contract was 60 and some change and we did not go over it by a dime. Then we spent about $100 on a safety gate we installed ourselves, about $500 on plants for the backyard we planted ourselves (all the baby teeny trees and bushes, but they all grew quickly - our $30 Queen Palm is about 15 feet tall now!), about $200 on a sprinkler system for the back we installed ourselves, about $800 on new sod in the front yard, and about $600 on Agio patio furniture from Costco. It was all planned out that these things would be spent ahead of time. Without planning I can imagine how things would get out of control. We also made sure that everything was included in our contract, from demo to dig fees to permitting fees to drains to all of the upgrades we could possibly want, all contracted for from the beginning.

What kind of sun does the location of your pergola get? Shade/direct sun - how many hours per day each, if any? The reason I ask is that I grew one plant of star Jasmine on the North side of our house, light but NO sun at all, so even if your pergola is in the shade that should be OK. Mine was was planted in the ground, and grew up to the top of our 3 story house. I looked it up, and star Jasmine will grow in direct sun. We were in zone 9 for most of the time it was there, and it stayed evergreen. No thorns, no mess, and delightful fragrance when it is blooming. If I were you, I would plant it in a BIG planter(s) at the base of the posts (just make sure it has good drainage), and get one of those wooden trellises you can buy at nurseries and put that on the post, so the Jasmine will have something to climb on to get started.
