We have the Panasonic convection microwave and the Breville convection toaster oven. Our main oven is a GE Monogram convection oven. 1. The Breville toaster oven is the best toaster oven we've ever owned. During Christmas visits my adult children dubbed it the magic oven. It toasts bagels perfectly because toaster settings can be customized. It bakes frozen pizza well enough that it can be considered more than barely edible in a pinch. It crisps homemade pizza to perfection. I have convection roasted game hens in it and cooked tuna to medium rare in minutes after searing it's edges on my cooktop. Overall it's one of the best small appliances I've ever owned. 2. The Panasonic does all of the above, has a larger capacity EXCEPT it is not a toaster. We toast a lot of things that wouldn't fit in a regular slotted toaster so toaster ovens are a must for us. We live in Florida so we don't need two full size ovens. We also (contrary to most people, it seems) use a microwave oven as a full partner in our array of cooking appliances. (I don't know if it is still available but the Microwave Gourmet cookbook by Barbara Kafka is a great resource for fully utilizing a microwave oven. She has such great recipes that I often adapt the seasonings for use in a regular oven also). Thus, we are happy to have the Panasonic with the dual use capability. Although we did our installation several years ago and I can't remember what we paid, I'm sure the $200 price quote for a Panasonic trimkit is way too much. You should check on line to try to get a better deal. HTH.

OK, I'm kind of thinking about it, although I still have a piece of Thanksgiving's buckeye cake to get rid of. I did buy 5 lbs of butter for $1.25 a pound yesterday, and 4 jars of marshmallow cream on sale. Since I've decided that I'm not putting up a tree this year and I'll put up just a few decorations, I might have more time to back. However, I promised Amanda I'd take her Christmas Shopping and we have tickets to see "the Nutcrapper" (Bud's version of the title, LOL) and I need to do Christmas with my family AND with Elery's, AND I have Cooper to deal with, I don't know how much time I'm going to have... I'll at least make shortbread and fudge and some cutout cookies with The Princess and Bruvver and find enough time to watch Rudolph and The Muppet Christmas Carol and the Jim Carrey version of The Grinch with the grandkids. It's possible that the convection microwave would do it, especially if it's a built-in, 240V, but if your current toaster oven is as perfect for your current needs as it sounds, I'd keep it so long as it's functional. I have some doubts about the 120V convection MWs--I've only used them at others' houses but they seem inadequate. You can decide after you have the new kitchen if you prefer another appliance for your toaster oven uses. I'd guess that the smaller range oven would be a better toaster oven alternative, but I can't guess about heating times, etc. A good range oven should heat evenly. It may not, but it should.

It is not as good as a range. The oven placement above the cooktop is not great. It is hard to lift hot, heavy things, like a pan of lasagne, out of an oven that high up. Bad enough for a microwave, but even worse for the only oven. Also the vents on the over the range microwaves/speed ovens don’t work nearly as well as a regular vent does. The oven is also smaller, which may or may not matter much to you. I would find it difficult, for example, to do oven roasted vegetables for my family of 4 in the advantium (I had one in a previous kitchen). Another example, the oven is too small for efficient cookie baking. Hope that helps!
