I found a solution that has kept my feeders from dripping and attracting yellow jackets and other unwanted pests. This only works for Humzinger-style feeders (not the standard large flower, smaller feeders.) I bought pipe sealant in the hardware section of my grocery store; pipe sealant is non-toxic. I also bought a roll of plumber's tape--the really thin tape used to help pipes seal up. First I cleaned everything really well. Then popped out all of the flowers and slathered a bunch of I then slathered the pipe sealant around where the flowers go in--you want to use a really good amount--and pushed them back in. I then did the same where the top met the bottom "bowl". Next, I wrapped a generous amount of the plumber's tape around that same place to really seal it up. The pipe sealant comes in little tubes and is kind of like working with toothpaste and putty mixed together. (Note: It doesn't fully dry up. It's not supposed to.) The end result is somewhat ugly with the white tape and the white goop around the flowers, but it sufficiently not only stopped the yellow jackets from coming (they tried and tried, but finally stopped.) You will have to replace the tape and pipe sealant now and then around the base, as it expands and contracts with the day heating up and cooling off--and especially so if it's in direct sunlight like mine are. I have a lot of hummingbirds who come my way all summer and all winter (we have Anna's Hummingbirds here in Oregon, and they don't migrate), and they've been very happy about not having the yellow jackets scare them off in the warmer months.

A few days ago, I posted re replacing old polybutylene from meter to house. Black pipe was used as a replacement. I have since discovered that the new pipe is slightly more than 1/2" I.D. and not quite 5/8" and certainly not 3/4", which is the rest of the house interior. At some point, we noticed loud humming whenever a faucet was turned on. Hot or cold did not matter, but using both at full open eliminated the noise, as did reducing it to a very low flow (almost trickle). I traced the noise back to the unfinished room where the water enters the house and the PRV is installed. The PRV is new along with the black pipe. The hum was intensely loud and certainly originating here, so I tried turning the screw on the PRV. Tightening it (I think tightening; this was a clockwise turn when viewed from below, PRV mounted overhead with screw side down) has all but completely eliminated the noise. I know the pressure at the hose bib should be between 40 & 70 psi, but could not find my gauge this late at night; not sure if it got lost during the house move. I will certainly buy one tomorrow and check, but am wondering if tightening (does this mean I increased pressure) could be problematic? I got to thinking, if the black pipe is less than 3/4" which then couples to 3/4", what does this mean to the health of the system? Could this be the root cause of the hum? Is the smaller size a problem in any way?

The simplest explanation is that vibrations from the pipes are transmitted through the structure of the building to where the microphone is located. It's too late to better isolate the pipes from the structure, but you might experiment with different locations for the mic, perhaps away from interior walls and sitting on a piece of foam rubber. Or, maybe it hums because it doesn't know the words to the song.

If the noise is constant, in most cases, it is the noise of pumping equipment of heating or water supply systems and elevators of heating systems. Through the control room, you can apply to the management organization to check the pumps and pipes coming from them to the house for noise and vibration and check the correctness of their vibration isolation. Pumps are usually installed in the basement or a separate heating point. When I applied for a mortgage through Mortgage Broker Manchester, I immediately checked the house for the presence of similar effects. Be careful and turn to a good plumber.
