Can you put your TV on the other side of the fireplace? Then put your brown loveseat where the white one is, but pull your brown couch up toward the fireplace making an "L" shape with the brown couch/loveseat. Put your white love seat where the brown one is now. Put a table and lamp in the corner where the brown couch/loveseat meet. Put an area rug in front of the couch/loveseat with your coffee table on it. Put your floor lamp on the kitchen side of your white love seat. I think your furniture/TV will look more evenly distributed around the room. And yes I think you can make the white/brown work.

grandmaof3, thanks for replying. Unfortunately, the TV cannot be moved as all the wiring(cable, internet etc) are in that corner.

I think the style of the white sofa goes fine wtih the brown ones, and there seems to be plenty of room for all 3 sofas. However, I am having a hard time picturing the white sofa working with the other ones if you keep it white.

If reupholstering is not that expensive, that is what I would do. I would do a pattern rather than a solid color and then use the colors throughout the room. The sofas all look very comfy--looks like the start of a very cosy space!

I think I would move the tv (the wiring is pretty easy to relocate) to either wall where the brown sofas are now. Or maybe it could go on the mantel? The tv really obstructs the corner fireplace wall and you don't even notice that beautiful window. Is the wall on the right of the fp bigger? My suggestions all require the tv to move. Sorry.

Kristin, if that white sofa is staying then it has to be re-upholstered as the leather is damaged in some areas, so it wont be white any more. Havent thought about what it will be though. Our floor is Bruce Caramel Maple, recently got the whole first floor(open floor plan) done with it and it looks great, I'm in love with it and we get lot of compliments from guests too.

sasafras, TV is 60inch and over the mantel is too high for it. To the right of FP is the opening to the stairs that you see in the 4th pic above, so cant put anything on that side. Our old TV was on the wall where the brown love seat is, and there are certian things that I didnt like about it, 1)We were always facing our backs to the beautiful window rather than enjoying it. 2)The scope of viewing the TV was so small, with the new location we are able to watch from the kitchen and breakfast areas and we do hang out a lot in the kitchen when we entertain(doing justice to the new TV size I guess lol!) 3) Moving it to the new location gave room for more seating as well.
I know the current location feels like the TV and FP are mushed up but if possible I would like to make it work that way.

Since you can't move your TV...will it fit flat against the wall? Then my suggestions on furniture moves, rug and table/lamps would be the same. You have a nice room.

Since the tv is going to stay as it is, I would then move the couch to the stair wall, where it has more wall space and open floor around it to feel less crowded in. I would put the matching loveseat across from it, where the cream one is now.

I would also try to slide the tv to the left a bit, just to give some breathing space between it and your very pretty stone fireplace.

The odd piece could then go on the wall where the couch is now. But while you say it is comfy, is it worth the hundreds of dollars it will cost to re-upholster? Could it go somewhere else in the house for those bad back/stress moments (perhaps the master bedroom or a family room?)and then get two comfy upholstered chairs in an interesting fabric, not leather, to go where the couch is now.

Obviously you need some end tables and lamps or floor lamps for lighting in the room; what you have is not adequate to create a warm, friendly space. I would also take down those small pieces of framed art and hang them together on one wall, side by side or one over the other. They look lost as they are.

Wood blinds or woven wood blinds in a shade like your floor would be nice. If that isn't in the plans, panel drapery either side of the window to bring in some softness, color and pattern would be great.

I would take all the tiny stuff off the mantel - it is lost up there. Also, I would replace the mantel shelf with a stained wood, again to compliment the flooring. The white doesn't play nicely with the interesting stone.

les, thank you for thinking throught this. I will try out your suggestion this evening. There is no compulsion that the odd piece has to stay, since I anyway have to spend $$ to get chairs I thought I could re-upholster provided it works with the rest of them, if it doesnt then I have no problem moving it out of there. And as you mentioned, the end tables, lights, wall art, drapes, mantel etc etc are all in my list and will get to them soon. Blinds are new so wont be replacing them.

While I still have to try out both of your suggestions, here is something I tried yesterday, what do you think?
